Energy rates April to June

We knew that energy rates were going to rise.

There are very different outcomes by region.
For me in Yorkshire,

• Standing charge of 68p/unit will be reduced by nearly 10p/unit. 😃
• Unit price is going to increase by 11% (over 2p/unit increase) 😠

We will find out in due course what happens to our actual tariffs.
I suspect that tariffs that rely on wholesale prices, such as Agile and Tracker, will see little difference – they have already taken their pain.
But what will happen to the others?

• Flexible will increase.
• I expect Cosy and Flux to increase.
• Will EV tariffs be protected?

Lots to think about and nothing changes until 1st April (except for the wholesale-based tariffs which change all the time anyway)

Rbor Note that there's no obligation on suppliers to cut the standing charge unless they already charge more than that - Octopus for example already charge less than they could.

On something like flux they have no obligation to reduce the SC?

It's not an SVR tariff?

Unless I'm wrong?

IOF is tied to the SVR by certain percentages (low rate is x% under, peak rate y% over). But I'm not sure there is any agreed link for the SC.

Vestas I know that Octopus has a policy to reduce the Ofgem SC figure by 4%
This means that Ofgem's Yorkshire SC from April of 58.64p should be reduced to 56.29p or thereabouts.

Looking at the regional cost changes, most Ofgem SCs are being reduced but there are some weird anomalies.
Just look at North Wales and Mersey: 69.54p, up from 67.88p! This region will also have the highest unit costs ....

TX200 The standing charge figures are the maximum which can be charged if a customer has used zero energy.

I think that's pretty much the only hard and fast rule, apart from that suppliers can do what they like (or get away with).

Rbor I see London SC has finally gone up. Should be a hell of a lot higher than that frankly.

Ofgem are consulting on this https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/press-release/ofgem-drives-forward-plans-introduce-zero-standing-charge-tariffs - the consultation doesn't close until 20th March, so it'll be a while yet

nophead I had heard that this is more likely to be coming in towards the end of 2025 start of 2026 so a while away yet
