On Saturday i did the online switch of tariff back to Octo Flux as the sun is now starting to show it's face.
I switched from Flux to Eco7 and fixed export for the 4 winter months (Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb) as there is little chance of excess PV to export and the off peak charge slot is 7 hours.
I submitted all the forms again. (have to submit every time I change tariff)

Why does import switch in about 3 hours (to more expensive rate), but export (better rate for me) can take up to 6 weeks? I have been on Flux two previous summers, so what is the difficulty?

Why are you having to submit forms? we've always been able to change online/by email.

I did it all online, but the process asks for MCS cert and DNO approval.
I have had to submit them every time i have wanted to swap tariff, presumably because there is kit that can export and they want to make sure it is safe.
i am surprised that they dont hold/link it to my account (or appear not to)

It's usually much quicker than 6 weeks - I suspect that's just that the only form they use assumes that you aren't set up for export with them and also I think there is a manual step for them to do the export change.
I switched a month ago the import took 12 hours (maybe the email was delayed) and the export about 4 days.
You'll be on Flux export from the day you accepted the T&C's.

I've swapped to and from flux and i've never had to resubmit any documentation. Normally it happens within 24 hours

I switched recently, I emailed them as the online form failed to submit. Import was switched on the day I accepted the T&C's but export 2 days later. I've just got my bill for the last month and export is only on Flux from the day it actually switched, not the day I requested the switch to Flux.

I had confirmation on a twitter DM that the export payments would be backdated, so I used the inverter with that in mind - e.g. more export when it's worth it.

Using PredBat I did have to manually set a peak export price in the yaml config, until such time the export data coming from the API was correct.

SteveCook It seems that Octopus have a standard process that they like to funnel you down, for Flux this includes setting up the export, checking for MCS, no FIT deemed export payments, etc.

If you do the switch online then this’ll be what happens and you’ll get processed the same as anyone else in the queue.

Instead contact customer services directly and ask them to switch your tariff and it should be done straight away.

I switched this way from Fixed Outgoing to Agile Outgoing, and then later from Agile to Cosy for import. When I wanted to switch back from Agile Outgoing to Fixed Outgoing I again contacted customer services directly and they pointed me to the website link which started asking for MPAN, MCS certificate, etc. I went back to CS and told them I already had export setup and they didn’t need to do this when I moved onto Agile Export, and they just changed me straight away

I have been out all day today - Thursday - and when I got in, HA had a notification that the Octopus service needed to be restarted as rates had changed.
I restarted the Octo service and Predbat now shows the Flux export rates.
So Octo did it in 4 days. Pretty good .
