AC Charge limited to 2.06kw, AC3, 9.5. Solar charges at 2.8kw

I have had my system for several years now - pretty much without any issues and any I have had I have been able to sort using information searched for on this forum. I now have an issue I can't fathom.

All AC Charging is at a single rate of 2.06kw. ECO, forced charge, evry which way I try it will only charge at 2.06kw. The sunny days recently have charged the batteries at up to 2.8kw which is wnat I was getting for both sources whn the system went in.

I have tracked down the 'change' to a time of 1:00am several weks ago. I'm on IOG with timed charge over the regular cheap hours and it was charging at the higer rate until 1:00am and thn dropped.

Checking the history (through the remote control screen in the cloud) there's an entry which coincides with the change:

2025-02-10 00:59:09 Server Battery Charge Power Read Successfully 3000 2286 External Change Detected

I'm assuming the 'Server' is the GE server. God knows why it did this but I have changed the Battery Charge Power back to the orignal 3000 but it is still limiting AC Charge to 2.06kw.

I do have GivTCP and have checked all the available settings and cannot find anything which seems to imply this limit.

I have also done a 'Reset to Defaults' which did reset entrything as expected but did not restore the full AC charge rate.


Anyone got any ideas? Is there a register setting I can't see doing this? Do I need to open a support ticket?

This says that a change was made locally (by givtcp) and this is the cloud refreshing its local cache of the value.

There's two charge powers though - have you changed both on the portal > remote control.

One is in power % and the other is in Watts.
I forget which way round it is but one works globally (limiting all charge in and out the battery) and the other works only on the AC charge side of things (which I think is the % one - and sounds exactly like the one that needs changing given you state it charges on PV at the higher rate)

This is what I see. The AC Charge rate is at 3000 and the 35% figure is the AC Charge Upper Limit which appears to be the Target SOC - at least that is what I have it set at as there's plenty of solar to charge during the day.

cluelesscris if you scroll further down do you have the extra battery % ones? (This does depend on what fw your running, if they are not there then I really don't know what's up with it)
I would show a pic of what I mean but forum says no.
Under the heading of battery there's some more sliders for power %. (Which to be honest would make more sense under the Percentage heading, where you find the ones you've shown, which are in Watts... because... well I really don't know!)

Thanks. I needed to force a read to get it. Looks lke you might have found the answer for me. It was set at 72% which is pretty close to the margin of my issue.

No worries. Why they are
a) mixed up under the wrong heading
b) nowhere near any of the other relevant sliders for power.
Is a mystery...

Hello. Sorry to jump on this but its the same issue I've noticed now the sun's been shining more lately, albeit my numbers are slightly different. I think it's because I set the battery to charge at certain times during the very cold and dark winter period.

My battery doesnt seem to be getting more than about 2712W (give or take 12 watts) even when there's an excess of 3300W generated by solar. Home consumption isn't making up the difference and the excess is being exported when it could be used to help charge the battery.

I've checked the remote control options, and even attempted to reset everything to factory default on the portal but it confirms that there's nothing to change. Details on my Home Assistant instance back this up.

Anyone got any more ideas before I call GivEnergy support?
Using a 9.5kWh battery with AC3 coupled inverter.

  • Model: GIV-AC 3.0
  • Inverter Firmware Version: D0.205-A0.205
  • Battery Firmware Version: 3017

Just been updated to DO.210-AO.210 with firmware 3020.
Had similar issues with batteries in unheated garage.
Too early to comment on performance but GE says this software acts at <10C while previous was at <20C.

Had similar problems with cold batteries / AC3 to 2 x 8.2
Too early to comment on change. GE says Temp reduced from 20C to 10C

I had it confirmed by GivEnergy support that version 3017 comes with some measures to further protect the battery and when the battery temperature is <20C it will limit the rate of charge to 2700W. This was the case in my situation.

Hope this helps others in case they were wondering.
