Battery discharge control

Hi, how do I change the settings to ensure my battery does not discharge to the grid?

The solar panels are brilliant at this time of year and can full recharge my batteries in a couple of hours. I am also sending a lot back to the grid on sunny days.

I have set a time for when I want the batteries to discharge (17:30 to 22:00) as this is when we use the most power. However, I noticed that my batteries are also exporting to the grid. Can I stop this as its not cost effective to do so?

Once your batteries are full then any excess will go to the grid, so this is normal

How have you setup the ‘time for batteries to discharge’? Did you use Timed Discharge or Timed Export?

The former will let your batteries discharge to meet house load, the latter does a full rate discharge of the battery so anything above house load will be exporte

what kit are you on. There are a lot of posts about what the different settings in the portal ACTULLY do for different inverter Gen models.
I could never get my Gen1 to do what I wanted (similar) to you, so I tried Octo R&D labs scheduler. Worked OK , but sometimes missed things (presumably when the command went from Octo to GivEnergy and on to my inverter and may not have made it).
I got a Raspberry Pi from my son and put HomeAssistant on it with my own automations. Worked great.
I then added Predbat and it works brilliant. Looks at my previous consumption patters, looks at my tariffs (Octo Flux), solar generation estimation (Solcast) and works out best times to charge and discharge and how much to charge. Wed 24hr electric bill 19p ( was a sunny day and we were out)
