What do the numbers mean?

Hi,
Actually I have a couple of questions, but let's start with this: what do the numbers mean in the current iteration of the Solcast card? They change depending on what I select, but don't make much sense. Here is what I get by selecting "today":

  • Estimated Generation 5.71 kWh
  • Actual Generation 6.00 kWh
  • Consumption 4.60 kWh
  • Forecast Generation 27.80 kWh

What is the difference between Estimated and Forecast?

Second question, a while back when I first signed up, the Solcast card was showing the graphics, not the numbers. Can I get it back to graphs?

I think it breaks down like this on the today only option.

Estimated generation, how much power should have been produced up to this point based on the forecast.

Actual generation, what your PV has generated over the same period as estimated generation.

Consumption, what you've used if the generation (not including export).

Forecast generation, how much more power you can expect for the rest of the day.

yandards Ok, that makes sense on the "today" choice. How about the default view:

  • Estimated Generation 66.06 kWh
  • Actual Generation 59.80 kWh
  • Consumption 27.90 kWh
  • Forecast Generation 92.93 kWh

Now, the words on the bottom of the card make sense: "3 Days History | 3 Days Forecast".

So, the estimated and actual generation, and consumption are from the last 3 days history. The Forecast generation is for the next 3 days then.

ALso NB (for me at least) the Solcast "time" on the "today" view is an hour behind BST.

wilfleek I think I have noticed that too. I thought that it is the summer time...

Not sure on the Estimated number (Top One). Below are mine right now, almost end of day. 0.18kwh remaining to generate. the 1st number seems meaningless
Estimated Generation 0.04 kWh

Actual Generation 45.00 kWh

Consumption 22.80 kWh

Forecast Generation 0.18 kWh

TheDragon (GivEnergy) the estimated numbers are wrong on days when there is not a full days worth of data, typically "today" and day -3. I raised a bug on this a few weeks ago but might be worth another report being created. The estimated generation figure should match the estimated area of the graph but does not do this unless there is a full days worth of data
