Currently I'm on Flux but am considering switching to Intelligent Flux.
My inverter frequently clips at this time of year, unless I manage it with a dynamic charging rate (using HA)
If I switch to IF, will I be able to throttle the charge rate during the day (usually full by 13:00), or will Octopus reset the charging rate?

godfreym a different way to avoid clipping is to turn off eco mode - it then seems to prioritise grid over battery, but does charge the battery if solar exceeds AC capacity.
So in theory it shouldn't be a problem on IOF since AFAIK they keep eco turned off.
Does require that there's space available in the battery, of course.

I know with IF, Octopus control the Eco mode, what level the battery discharge to and the charge/discharge times.
I just wonder if they would reset the charging rate if I change it dynamically every 5 minutes with HA?

I am on IF, my battery is generally at about 40% at 9 am, octopus charge it up during the day to about 90% by 4pm. They have charged to 30% overnight and then discharged to 20% in the morning -I assume to balance the grid and then charged it back up during the day.
If you change the settings, eg setting to eco, they change it back within a minute or two.
IOF have done little today, only charged to 37% and have done no force discharge today the PM currently (17:30)

There is a tiny bit of battery charging around 13:00. It's exactly the same as I see with eco turned off - most power goes to the grid, but once the AC generation (consumption + export) maxes out (presumably 5kW here), it sends the excess to the battery (less that consumed by the inverter itself).
Yes, just the 'clipping', not an IOF request.
I only had around 38% battery and IOF didn't do the usual grid export

it does entirely what Octopus want it to do, and the behaviour will change day to day.
with OIF there isn't actually a lot of benefit in charging the battery much because you get the same rate for import as export, its only worth charging the battery to whatever level octopus plan to export from it later on. So you probably won't find it exercised as much as it was pre-OIF
Its a good tariff if you generate loads. Not if you consume loads.

It certainly does, it's just setup a timed export of 1600-1630 with discharge power of 82W 🙁.
Here's my last 3 days on IOF.
I'm currently generating >36kWh a day and using 12kWh. after standing charge, getting £5- £6 a day net
