Why is the portal so bad

Thought id get a report on march and so I don't have to type it all out again ill copy paste from another forum.

Givenergy Generation (via reports) - 483.10
Home Assistant - 502.8 (No idea why HA is different to GE as its pulling readings from GE sensor)
Solax Generation (String Inverter) - 535.50

Going to have to see whats up between GE and HA

EDIT
Says generation today 23.4, go to Energy graph and it says generation for today was 15.07, 6.85 to home, 7.82 to grid and 0.4 to battery when I know for a fact it put at least 9kwh into the battery.

I go to meter data and today reads PV Generation Total 6417.7, Feb 28th it reads 5914,9 which = 502.8 for March not the 483 I got in reports and even if it wasn't including today it still would have been wrong

So GE is the same as HA at 502.8, can't even reply on reports on the portal and Energy graph tells me something completely different.

OMG it counted generation to battery as grid to battery.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD FIX THE FORUM ERROR JESUS H........

Jellybaby one problem with the portal is that I believe it uses the today sensors which of course should track the same as the total sensors that are often used in the energy dashboard, but I have seen definite examples where the today doesn't reflect the change in total for a day.

Don't know why this is, but adds to why I gave up on using the portal reports

geoffreycoan same, I just wanted to be lazy about getting total from the month as I couldn't see a way to choose the month manually like you can with home assistant.

Ended up having to do the math anyway lol

I thought it would have pulled this stuff from meter readings to sort things out if the standard way is not working.

Today has been the first time I went to the dashboard since they got rid of the legacy one.

Certain parts of the portal simply add up every 5 min data point it gets sent & makes a big assumption that it was doing that for the entire period.

Depending on how "volatile" your loads, PV, battery...whatever is... can mean this gets considerably out of whack from reality for the other 4mins & 59seconds its probably not doing the same thing for.

Didn't think it would that since it refreshes every 1m with home assistant.

Thought it would be more accurate and why is it saying grid went to battery when it was solar lol.

It is certainly true that the energy graphs and reports use the sampled data (5 minutes unless you use something to upload faster), however I am unable to reproduce my reports using the uploaded data and simple maths. I don't know how they are being calculated, but it's quite strange that they are so near yet so far out.
For me, the new energy graph shows solar generation during the evening, see https://community.givenergy.cloud/d/5882-energy-data-shows-generation-late-into-evening

Solution is don't use the portal graphs (nor reports). All the data I need is available from my android app. Or Home Assistant can provide you with all the figures you could want.

Note that with my app you can manually copy data from the portal so you can get historic figures

Apparently it shouldn't be counting as grid to battery when being charged from solar.

EDIT
LOL, my total grid pull for March was 288.229kwh, something really screwy going on.

EVERYTHING on the portal dashboard is unreliable and 100% useless apparently.

Maybe we should consider the portal graphs as works of art. Works of art don't have to be an accurate representation of reality. 😂

Ok, that is odd, finally got Gateway added to my account and was told to update the firmware, I am still on A0.005 and that id lose power but I decided to look at the sensors for the gateway out of curiosity as I had never done so before and came across this.

The import export on GW seems to be flipped from what the AIO sees but I must be misunderstanding that PV total

Id really love to have all this info when im full screen

Instead of only seeing this

It doesn't even matter if I zoom out to 20%, the discharge is the initial 20m of washing machine being on 🙂

I noticed about 2weeks ago on the web portal and then last night my app went the same way, that when my battery was on a timed export to the grid The battery output was suddenly being logged as battery to home, and unexplained amount exported to the grid. On the page for export to the grid, I suddenly have a huge amount of solar being exported between 4pm and 7pm and then the same token amount is also reported in the battery output to the grid. Neither of them add up to make any sense.
The thing is to maximise my export during peak time I actually disconnect my house to avoid drawing any power from the inverter during export and I supply my house from a separate battery system. So I know there is physically nothing going to the house.
