Battery Capacity read error?

Hi

I have a Gen 1 5kW inverter with a 9.5+5.2kWh batteries, 9.5 is the master.

I have had two occurrences in the last 2 weeks where the read on the battery capacity seems to suddenly forget the 5.2 battery and then revert back. In the first case I had to reboot the battery & inverter as the 5.2 seemed to have locked up.

The last case, yesterday, it came back about 20 mins after the misread. There are no automated tariffs and while I do have Home Assistant there are no automations that run at any time except when my car is charging in core hours on Intelligent Go. The logs indicate 'External Change' but unless GivTCP is doing anything, which it isnt showing in the logs, there is nothing changing the capacity of the batteries. There are no notifications in the logs but I do have a check battery back in June 2024, nothings since.

Has anyone experienced this? How do you log a call with GivEnergy as a customer now? I can't see any forms, live chat is greyed out?

Thanks

John

Had it in the past, a few times even. Appeared randomly, disappeared randomly.
Sorry I cannot offer more help

the ‘external change detected’ is the portal spotting that the inverter has different data to what it last had when it polled it

so if the inverter momentarily “forgets” about the smaller battery then it would trigger this behaviour

I’d check that the data cable from the 9.5 to the 5.2 might be slightly loose, causing a disconnection. Maybe power down both batteries, turn the 9.5 breaker off, then unplug and re-plug the 5.2 into the 9.5.

If its very occasional and intermittent then unlikely that GivEnergy will be able to find and fix anything. They may of course claim its GivTCP that is corrupting the inverter registers when its reading them, unlikely, especially if its only reading not writing, but this may get suggested.
