Battery saying 0W and exporting everything to the grid

I have just had an install and it was working fine once the installer had left. I am not on a tariff yet as I am now going to start the process with octopus. I mistakenly connected the my solar system to the octopus app without having a tariff and since then it now exports everything the house isn’t using to the grid instead of charging my battery. The battery percentage is 37% charged but it isn’t discharging or charging. Can anyone please advise me if there are some settings I need to change to rectify this issue until I get the Octopus tariff up and running. Thanks in advance ☺️

It would also be useful for others to know a little more about what system you had installed, and what you mean by connecting your system to Octopus app - what tariff did you select etc.

For instance, if you have handed control over to Octopus (Intelligent Flux) then they will control the battery and so any settings you make will be rest by them. If that is what you intended then you need do nothing, but if you did not intend to sign up to an Intelligent tariff, you would need to select a different tariff and revoke their access to your system.

If you haven't signed up to the Intelligent tariff, then I would go to the portal and reset the inverter to its defaults and see what happens. That should reset the system so that it is running in Eco mode and ensures that house load is first satisfied, then battery charge then export.

1. Remove the device from the Octopus App.
2. Remove Octopus' access in your account security: https://givenergy.cloud/account-settings/security
3. Change your inverter settings to match the behaviour you want. Probably switch ECO mode on and disable timed charge and discharge.

Thank you for your help. I have revoked Octopuses access. Reset the inverter and set it in Eco mode and still the battery is showing 0W but I know it it about 80% charged now as I was force charging it so it didn’t go to the grid when the sun was out. Now it is powering my house and sending the excess to the grid instead of topping up my battery as I have stopped the forced charge. It is 2 x GivEnergy 9.5kwh batteries with a 5kw inverter and 12 panels. Any advice on how to get my battery to power the house for later as I know it will just draw from the grid and the power in the battery will just sit there. I will be going on the intelligent flux but not for a few weeks so ideally I want to use it for my own house use as much as possible until I have the tariff in place and will get paid for the export. [unknown] If you go into the inverter remote control section on the cloud portal there are a few things that you should check. Sometimes the settings displayed in the remote control section and in the app are not what the inverter is seeing. I sugest that you refresh each setting by using the refresh arrow to the left of the options.
Enable ECO mode should be ON.
Enable DC discharge turn OFF.
Enable AC charge turn OFF.
Battery Discharge Power should be 100%.
Battery Reserve Limit should be 4%.
Battery Cut Off Limit should be 4% unless you want to keep more in the battery for some reason.
Inverter Max Output Power % 100%.
Export Power Priority should be Load First. Not sure if this actually does anything 🙂
Inverter Discharge Power % 100%.
Pause Battery should be Not Paused.
If none of this helps than I suggest you contact your installer and see if they can resolve the issue.

AshG Eco mode should be all you need. It should use spare solar during the day to charge the battery and then use the battery if there isn't enough solar to cover the house load. If it is not working then get your installer to take a look.

[unknown] reset-to-defaults should undo anything octopus has done. Available via app or portal.

'Reset to defaults' didn't work for me when I switched from OF to OCosy. As SJB said, I had to revoke Octopus' access to my inverter via their API in my account security: https://givenergy.cloud/account-settings/security to regain control of my inverter.
