ward123 I updated inverter and battery software on the 5th April. Ever since then the inverter does not return to zero output after charging or discharging. It runs at between 10 and 30 watts output. This slowly drains the batteries when they should be inactive.
I have restarted the inverter and also reset to factory settings but still it drains the batteries when it should be off.
I can only stop the slow discharge of the batteries by setting the pause battery flag.
It was very clearly caused by the upgrade of the inverter and battery software to:

Unfortunately this is a side effect of the fast response features in the new inverter firmware and is by design.
As I understand it the newer Gen 1 and Gen 2 firmware has had ‘fast response’ capability added (it’s always been there in the Gen 3’s). What this means is that the inverter is now much faster to respond to changes in load, to supply battery power when you turn on a kettle for instance and to stop discharging when the load reduces.
Before this fast response you could have a delay of up to 30 seconds before the battery would respond, and obviously in that time period you would be grid importing or exporting unnecessarily.
However, you don’t get nowt for nowt. The fast response capability has been achieved by keeping the battery energy bus powered on all the time, this means that the inverter can respond to changes more quickly, but the side effect of this is that there is a higher constant power drain. The way to reduce the power drain is to pause the battery as you have found, and obviously then you are not getting the fast response.
Has been covered before on other threads, but you just don’t get such explanation from givenergy.
If you don’t want the fast response features then givenergy can revert you back to the older inverter firmware.
