In ECO mode, my battery charges but does not discharge on demand.
The battery can discharge if I put it in manual mode (but obviously, this is not ideal).
The battery had a strange spontaneous discharge in the early morning, and then stopped discharging in ECO mode.

Yes, I tried to reset from the portal. I also tried shutting down the system and restarting. But no joy.
I have scheduled a battery calibration today...hopefully this cures the problem

Robin_perry could you have battery pause set to pause discharge? Not sure if a forced export overrides that. Probably, else timed export and timed discharge couldn't coexist.

When you say shut down, what do you mean.
Did you power off DC strings, turn off battery, turn off CU breaker to inverter, turn off battery breaker to inverter.
Let all power drain say 30s and turn everything back on.
There is a proper sequence for this. You may have to search.
It should reboot the battery and the inverter though

I have the same issue unable to discharge from the battery on eco mode.
Had my system 3 years with zero issues. this has to be related to the latest firmware revision

So, I ran the calibration via the internet portal. The ECO mode is working again!
(SteveCook - yes, I followed the instructions on the GE video. But it did not solve the issue.)

Updated battery firmware this morning and now I seem to be having the same problem. Can you advise how to run the battery calibration please? I can't find a solution within the portal.

Noticed my battery taking in power from the grid since the latest updates , whats the impact of calibration? it states it takes a few hours when it runs? will this make the battery empty and refill or anything ?? Thanks

AlanFogarty A calibration will completely empty your battery and then completely fill your battery to determine the low and high SoC points. Once you initiate the calibration you can’t stop it, but you can vary the charge/discharge rate, e.g. to charge where possible on solar

I have just experienced the same issue. Had got to the end of a period when I was discharging my battery during peak export time. And then when it finished I noticed that the battery was not being used with solar to feed the house demand. Checked my settings couldn’t see any obvious issues that would have explained the behaviour. Have now gone for a battery re-calibration. I did notice that last week when I hit the firmware update option, battery to 3020 and inverter to d0.315-a0.315 that it all reported ok but there was no evidence of a battery calibration cycle. Should there have been ?

I completed a battery cal 3 days ago but, for me, that didn't resolve the issue. I contacted GivEnergy by live chat and their guy did 'A grid reset' (I think that was what he called it). That resolved the Eco Mode problem but, although I checked the inverter settings after that, I then had a problem with the battery not charging from the grid, neither by Timed Charge nor forced charge via quick settings. That proved to be that the AC Charge mode was disabled, despite it showing as enabled in Settings. Reset that and all seems to be well now.

Yesterday evening, when I noticed that the battery was still at 100% whilst the heat pump was running, I looked at the home page on the app to see that the battery was idle and all power was coming from the grid - again! So, it looks as if the Eco Mode is not working again - and it's the weekend! I have just initiated a battery cal again and see if that works this time.

Robin_perry, on the power chart you have provided there is a period of high power discharge and export from 0000 to around 0215.
Was this a scheduled event that you had programmed via a GE user interface or some form of automation?
Some GE settings for discharge/export have caused ECO Mode to go disabled and stay disabled until you manually restore it, which could explain why the inverter and 100% charged battery were not responding to the household load peaks shown after 1800.

I'm skeptical that calibrating should change any behaviour, unless the battery was very very unbalanced or something. A calibration should not affect any control settings.

Davegreen1 it appears to me that this could be a firmware update feature. I say this because before the recent update I had used export to increase my output to the grid during peak time And at the end of the period the system went back to normal. But post the update I noticed that if the export period ends because the battery has reached the limit you set then it won’t feed the house. I’m sure even if eco mode is set the battery won’t feed the house if needed. The same behaviour is seen even if you disable export mode. But if you then change the discharge limit say back down to 4% it all works, even if export mode is disabled, assuming you previously had it enabled. I also notice that in the logs it only shows enabling or setting dc discharge it doesn’t show the difference between you selecting export vs discharge mode.

Maxwell The same behaviour is seen even if you disable export mode.
Yes, if you have a timed export window configured with a lower limit, then even if the enable DC discharge flag is clear, it will respect that lower limit during that time window. In fact if SoC is lower than the configured lower limit, it will gently charge from grid back up towards the limit
This is on 309 firmware on gen-3 hybrid.
