Looking for some assistance here.... Since I changed WiFi provider, I have been unable to get my inverter connected. Now, I did manage it once and it dropped out again, but ever since the I can't get my phone to stay connected to the dongles network long enough to go through the instructions. It just keeps dropping off.

So that's one issue.

The other potential issue is I am now on an eero router which doesn't reach my garage, so I am using a netgear extender. This should be gone in a couple of days when a new Eero gets delivered to provide the signal boost.

Anyone got any ideas?

Also as an aside, when not connected to WiFi, does the system still carryon doing as its meant to do?

Thanks in advance

EuanOatway if the SSID and or password has changed then you'll need to update the giv inverter wifi dongle to match the new SSID and PWD. Details on how to do that can be found in the guide here :- https://kb.givenergy.cloud/article.php?id=1

As long as the wifi it connects to can reach the internet it should work.

If the inverter cannot reach the internet for any reason then it will continue to run in whatever mode it was in prior to loosing internet connectivity .

Cheers mate. Yeah I had found that article already, that's what I followed the first time and it did seem to work. But now whenever I connect to the W....... Network of the inverter itself as per the instructions, it boots me off after a few seconds meaning I can't get through the whole process.

I hope when this new eero booster comes and allows me to get the full proper network instead of the second network created by a normal extender out to the garage this will resolve itself, but tbh, I see no reason why I can't stay connected to the dongles network. Very annoying.

EuanOatway To mitigate the pain of changing ISPs and installing a new router, I manually change my router SSID and password to something I want it to be (you could do that now on your new router). That way, whenever we get a new router, I change the SSID and password on the new router to the settings on the previous router and none of my in-home devices need to be updated - they carry on using my customised SSID and password with the new router.

I think your Wifi dongle could just be plugged into any USB socket to power it up and you should be able to access it's Access Point from your phone/tablet etc. If you're concerned about removing it from the inverter because of warranty, just contact your installer and ask them to sort it. I think Givenergy could talk you through it, but if it's not got the new SSID, they wouldn't be able to get to the inverter over the cloud connection.

Tim that is a good approach and what I do for our house and others I look after. It minimises a lot of pain.
