Hi are these tarriff specific. i had none for the first month using flux but moved to Octopus go this week and have a 2 hour free slot today. Im presuming the best pkan is to dump the electricity now and then top back up whilst its free?

Chips78 the power ups are not specific to a tariff, they vary based on postcode, and sometimes quite specific to postcode.

I had loads in February, one every day for almost two weeks, then they slowed down. The last one I had was 26th March. All depends on the capacity in the grid.

As to whether it’s worth discharging and topping up, again that depends on your circumstances and in particular your inverter size and predicted solar generation. With a relatively small solar array or a high inverter throughput such as an AIO, then yes, dump and fill up. My inverters are Gen 1 hybrids so 2.6kW, so if its sunny then I’m unlikely to be able to take advantage of the free energy

Please can I ask where you are located?

I am just N of Cambridge. I had loads of Power-ups last year. This year - in spite of being not far from @geoffreycoan - I have had two (or maybe three, I forget).

When they were frequent I had a single AIO. Apart from during the height of Summer, it was usually financially worth discharging prior and charging during. When the sun was shining then the economics were such that forgoing the export during the day to dump the battery was just not worth doing.

Enjoy them while they last.
