Gateway faulty - No PV electricity during power cut

Hi, We had a power cut for about 30 minutes. I'm pleased to say that the Gateway cut in and kept the house running on the AIO battery. However, I noticed that there was no PV electricity generation during this period, even though it was sunny. It seems that the inverters switched off. I thought the system was supposed to be able to use PV electricity during a power cut to augment that from the battery.
Any comments or advice welcomed.

was the battery above 80% charge? if so the PV is switched off. Once it drops below it should come back on again

How full was your battery at the time of the power cut?

There is a feature of the Gateway that if the SoC is (iirc) more than 90% then the output from the AIO is set to 54Hz, specifically to put any solar inverter into error. The purpose is to prevent generation from happening if there is nowhere to put the power generated.

As above - I can attest to that - the AIO will disable the PV if there is a high SOC in the AIO and insufficient load to take all the power being delivered by the panels.

My understanding (after talking to ChatGPT!!!) is that this is a common feature for AC configured systems, there may be better experiances for a DC coupled system (as I understand it, there is finer control for the inverter/battery)

When your battery is at 70% next, flip the grid breaker and see if the solar kicks in? That way if it is an issue (doesn’t sound like it is) you find out then rather than if you need it.

[unknown] not if they go through a gateway they don’t, tha gateway isolates the grid and allows inverters to keep running 👍

[unknown] there is another potential shortfall preventing PV in a power cut which I had since installation and finally had resolved this month. My two Growatt string inverters switched off every power cut. I spoke to Growatt who advised the inverters needed a firmware update to resolve. I had to set my installer to supply and fit wireless dongles in each inverter and then Growatt to do do the uploads remotely, works a charm now.
