Stopping battery charging from PV?

I'm after some advice please.

I have a new 9.5Kwh battery and 8kw PV system. I charge my battery to 100% using my cheap EV tariff 12-7am, then use the battery and PV during the day for my home consumption. By midnight, the battery is still at 80%+ as it has been continuously topped up to 100% from the solar all day and is only drained a bit after dark. During PV generation, only when the battery is at 100% does it export the excess to the grid.

Is there a way to automatically stop the PV topping up the battery during the day, but allow the battery to still support house consumption when needed? (i.e. it would still discharge as needed, but not charge). That way it would export the excess PV to the grid instead of storing it. (I get 3xmore £ for export than I pay to charge the battery overnight from the grid so it will save me money if I can do this).

PJB1 I'm doing that, but unfortunately there's a complication... what sort of inverter do you have ? I have a (5kW) hybrid, which means 8kW of solar would exceed the rated AC output of the inverter, so I'd need to be able to send up to 3kW to the battery in parallel. (In fact, 8kW would exceed the 7.5kW input maximum, so I guess you have something slightly different.)

So I use two different approaches: using timed-pause allow me to pause battery charging during the day, which is the simple solution. But on a sunny day, that would cause clipping, so I instead switch off eco - that gives the effect of grid-first : the first 5kW go to the grid (less any consumption), and the rest goes to the battery. But with eco off, when solar generation drops, or consumption increases, it won't discharge the battery to cover it. So I use a script to keep a fairly close eye on things and switch between the two as required.

My regime is to charge to 100% overnight, discharge down to about 70% in the morning to make room in the battery for any excess solar, then dump more to the grid around 4pm, and then empty the battery late evening.

That’s really helpful. I have a 8kw PV inverter and a 3kw battery inverter, so on full PV it would already export the 5kw excess and I don’t need to worry about clipping (if I’ve understood correctly), unless I tried to force discharge whilst it’s really sunny.

I had assumed timed-pause would also pause discharging, but if that’s not the case then that should be what I need. Thanks

PJB1 if those are ac-coupled pv and battery inverters, then clipping isn't relevant. Unless you also have an export limitation with curtaiks the solar inverter. And the battery export would be in parallel to any solar export.

The pause can be one of four states: neither, charge only, discharge only, or both.
