Inverter Offline after router change

Hi all.
Knowing a change of broadband /router would be an issue I changed the SSID & PW of my new router to that off my old router so that all connected devices in our hose can reconnect automatically. So job done yes - err no.

I've now got an Inverter that's offline (hybrid 3.6kW Gen 2) & other devices (car charger & solar diverter) that have failed to reconnect which makes me wonder why I bothered mucking about with the new router in the first place!!
Mobile Phones, a hard wired Cat flap hub, PC's & TV's seem to have reconnected but nothing else.

I've recycled the power to the Inverter but no luck. It seems to be working but I can't see anything on the App (Home or Away) or the Portal, info for which stopped at 01.30am this morning when our old broadband service was switched off. I started up the new router & changed it's SSID & PW & got it online at 8.30am this morning.
I've tried searching for the inverter on the App but I don't think it's doing anything because the Inverter itself is offline.

Any ideas?

[unknown] It's possibly something to do with 2.4gHz/5gHz settings - see if your new router supports both and you can temperarily switch the 5gHz signal off (the inverter and most IOT TBH all use the 2.4gHz frequency).

Once the inverter is back on then switch the 5gHz signal back on.

The other option could be to set up a different SSID/pw on the 2.4gHz frequency and connect the inverter etc to that and everything else on the 5gHz (phones etc)

[unknown] Hi. From what I can see in the new router nothing is showing as connected to 5gHz & everything connected seems to be on 2.4gHz. I can see a function to separately name 2.4 & 5gHz networks but I can't actually see an on/off option for 5gHz itself.

OK. Found out how to turn off the 5gHz network on the new Fritzbox router so did that. No immediate signs of any change. I'll do a hard reboot of the inverter. Oh, btw, I can see the Inverter on my list of WiFi networks on my laptop. However, can't get into it because I don't the PW. Nothing on the docs left by the installer over 2 years ago now. Also watch a vid by EV man on GE inverter Wifi reset. None of which is working for me.
In meantime any further suggestions are welcome.

Rang GE Tech support who sent me a reset procedure. Need to remove a cover & find a reset pin, download another App & fiddle some more. Sounds very convoluted for getting an inverter back online. I'll see how I get on

Have you tried 12345678 ?

[unknown] Yep tried that. And AdminAdmin as well.

I failed miserably with the Givinstaller App which I was told to download which was very unintuitive & just went around in a loop. In the end I got back on to GE Technical. After a long wait I spoke to Aaron for the 2nd time who was very patient with me & apologised for the App's "bugs & shortcomings" which was a very polite of putting it. 2* rating I think & some less than complimentary comments on the App store).
Anyhoo, Aaron took me through the very painfull reconnection process step by step which failed - 3 times!! At which point Aron said I need to go back to the beginning & press the reset button for 30 secs, wait 30 mins & start the Givinstaller App process all over again!!!!!!!! Arrrrrgh. At that point I was pretty mentally drained.

Of course I was not going to get that all done before Tech support packed up at 5pm if it didn't work & Tech won't return until Monday Am so there was a distinct prospect of no solar / battery operation over the weekend until Monday!!
I switched all the isolators back on as instructed & went off to put my phone on charge before trying the whole palava all over again. On a whim I thought lets just check the GE Portal again & guess what - the Inverter was back on line!! How the hell that happened I'll never know but I'm grateful it did. I then checked the mobile App on my phone & the Away screen was now working so I went to settings & searched for & updated the inverter & the Home screen sprang into life as well.

This whole fiasco started at 8.30am this morning & took best part a day to sort & thats with me doing what everyone advised was the smart thing by changing the new router SSID & PW to match the old - which didn't work.
What a right royal PITA.

My thanks to Aron at GE Tech but it shouldn't be this difficult to get an Inverter back online or to change it's network & / or password.
I'm gonna have a beer or 3 now to wind down.......BTW. My emojis button is not working either!!

I've now just got a MyEnergy Zappi & Eddi to sort out as well as they are both now competing with each other for Master hub status!! That's gonna have to wait until tomorrow.

[unknown] Glad to hear you are back up and running. I wonder if the steps you went through resolved the problem or if GE were able to do things in the background that also helped. Still, it shouldn't be this difficult when a router changes (which I guess is a fairly regular scenario for many).

I have a mesh network at home (with the router wifi switched off) which all devices connect to, and am about to change broadband suppliers .... it will be interesting to see if my cut-over works seamlessly (I'm hoping so) or wheter I too will get problems.

Get rid of the hot water tank and the car then you are sorted :-)

[unknown] Good luck with your switch over.
I think this whole episode has convinced me to go hard wired Ethernet instead of relying on WiFi. The question is whether to go the physical hard wired route from Router to Garage where the Inverter, Zappi & Eddi are (not that easy) or, use Power Line adaptors?
For obvious reasons I'm favouring Power Line adaptors but also because I already have some spare ones & some plug points in the garage. Just need to test out whether they will connect OK & I could be quite an easy solution with a much more reliable & stable connection.
