Timed charge happening at the wrong time

I have been happily using "timed charge" with a cheap early-hours slot (Octopus Flux) for months. But since 11th June, the timed charge setting has been ignored - the inverter has been starting to charge the battery at midnight. The inverter's date and time are properly set, according to the logs.

Things I've tried which haven't helped:

  • restarted the inverter
  • power off/power on the whole system
  • reset the inverter settings to default

The only thing which stops this is to completely disable timed charge, which isn't great.

Any suggestions please? The inverter is a GIV-HY5.0, firmware version D0.307-A0.307. Battery firmware is 3015 in case that's relevant. I'm a bit wary of updating, given some recent posts here, but willing to try it.

Thanks!
Dave

davebiff What the portal/app shows in the settings tends to be what it last sent - it doesn't ask the inverter unless you force it to. I've never been entirely convinced that reset-to-defaults unconditionally sets all registers, rather than just the ones it thinks have changed.

The starting time might have got reset to 0 (=midnight). Could try explicitly changing it to something else, then to the time you actually want. That should ensure portal and inverter are in sync. Or force portal to read the value.

You may have multiple charging slots - check that one of the others hasn't become active and is starting at midnight.

Oh good call. That's very weird. The web UI was showing timed charge slot 1 (which I think the app uses) was set to 04:00-04:30, as I expected. When I went through all the others and force-read them, I found slot 2 was set to 00:00-14:30. Where did that come from?! I've cleared it and re-enabled timed charge. Fingers crossed that's solved it. Thanks!

Everything happened at the right time overnight. Looks like that's the solution. I'd still like to know where the random configuration came from, but thanks again DD
