So this is what I have and I see happening according to the flow and figures ... ( new to this so bear with...)
GE 5.0 Gen3 + 9.5 Gen3 Batt

As of now 21:35 house is consuming 255w
PV is still generating 3w ( its dusk )
I have a full 100% battery that's discharging at 175w
But I still see Grid import at 9w

Why on earth do I see Grid import (unless the battery is drained and there is no PV generation?)
I canna work it out lads...

The thing doing the measuring has a CT clamp rated for 100A.
That means it can measure from -23,000W to +23,000W at the nominal 230V found at home.
The 9W is just jitter / rounding errors from the system doing its best to hit 0W balance.

That tiny 9W import is totally normal and not a fault. The inverter may draw a small amount from the grid for voltage reference or to balance slight mismatches at low loads. At low power levels (like under 20W), you’ll often see tiny imports or exports due to rounding and measurement delays. It’s nothing to worry about – your system is working fine, especially with dusk generation fading and light household usage. Most GivEnergy setups do the same.

I think of it a bit like water flowing through a pipe - it might slosh slightly one way or the other, but it’s all part of the system balancing itself out.

Hey Domo,
You will see this particularly if load changes quickly around the 10s refresh of the local monitoring data. I.e if around that time your fridge kicks in you may get a little bleed from grid as the battery is spinning up to pick the additional load. You will also see this the other way where if load drops drastically you will get abit of spillage to the grid whilst the battery drops in output. As the data only refreshes every 10s locally whilst it might only happen for a split second it will look like it's the whole 10s.

From about February onwards through to October I don't charge the battery from the grid or use any energy from the grid but I do see a few Watts from and to the grid all the time, it amount to about 6 kWh a month.
I was told part of it is due to the inverter checking the grid voltage but as already mentioned there is this sort of sloshing black and forth.

EVM (electric vehicle man) described it as a bit like following another car on the road.

When it speeds up it takes a moment for you to realise and match pace (draw from grid)
When it slows down, again it takes you a moment to realise and back off, (export a little)
When you're not gaining or losing against it you're grid neutral

Also, just touching on what you stated [unknown] I set the battery not to charge from grid last night, see how it went. The heat pump ran from 00:01 heat the water, and usual house consumption over night I was down to about 63% by 08:30 on my 9.5 G3 battery, but but by 11:30 it was at 100%. I'm not exporting yet as i'm still waiting for certs to arrive.
