EV Charger Offline / Not Solar charging

I plugged my EV into my GE EV charger yesterday afternoon, a bit early for the cheap overnight tariff, and noticed that although it was a sunny day there was no solar charging.
I then noticed that the charger was Offline and not accepting any commands. Many restarts from the app were ignored, so I tried physical restarts using the fusebox. No change, still offline. Somehow (maybe the factory reset worked?) I ended up with a blue flashing light (comms issue) and an offline charger.

This morning I performed a "change wifi" which worked after a few attempts and the EV charger is now online. A full power test charge at 7kw worked fine. Config commands are received and acted upon.

However, still no solar charge happening even though the sun is out, the home battery is 100%, the load on the house is minimum and >2kW is exporting to the grid. Configuration is "solar" and 100% is directed to the car. The car is not fully charged so accepts charge from granny charger, and Octopus is not controlling any car charging either.

When a "start charge" command is sent by the server the response is "timeout".
So far this is not a major problem as the car will hopefully charge overnight, will see tonight! But something is not working and that's a concern - what's next?

I've opened a case with GE but worth a shot to see if anyone has had a similar issue and more importantly a resolution.

Inverter GIV-HY3.6 + 5.2 kW battery + GE EV charger + peugeot e208. All firmware up to date.

I'm having this issue too - solar-only charge isn't putting anything in the car despite 3.5-4kw being put in to the grid. It has been this way for a few days now and the only way to get a charge is to move to grid-only mode.

I know this isn’t solving your problem but depending what tariffs you are on then it would be economically more beneficial to charge from grid anyway eg Intelligent Octopus Go at 7p and Octopus Export at 15p. I appreciate it won’t give you that green feeling of charging your car from solar.

I dont have a GE EV charger but I noticed that two days ago my Monetta App, the 'Solar only' option has been removed.. I did test it yesterday and it did charge from Solar, but looks like now I dont get the option..

[unknown] Absolutely and I charge the car overnight, avoiding a loss of 8p/kwh export earnings and only occasionally go 100% green with solar charging - I'm just concerned that something that should work is not working. With givenergy I've learnt to be wary of unexplained phenomena. When the ecosystem works it's fine, but when it doesn't then it's a big mess.

had an email this morning saying our SEG tariff is being halves from 12p to 6p from August, so this solar charging becomes more important as I'll want to dump all excess solar in the cars.

Have Giv come back with any help yet?

[unknown] I got an email today apologising for not replying on WhatsApp so I’ve explained the issue and am waiting on a response

I chased up Giv on whatsapp and they set the "Plug and Go" on, which is used to start charging at 7kw whenever the car is plugged in. Not really relevant or desired so I've set it back to off, when the sun comes out later on I will see if there is any other improvement after they had a crack at it.

Dabz Hi - did you get any response? I had a whatsapp with them and all they did was set the charging to Plug & Go which just dumps 7Kw into the car as soon as it's plugged in, rain or shine, night or day. Not a fix, I toggled it back off immediately!

No reply, I don’t think they’re doing support anymore given the various comments online and on trustpilot lately. The new whatsapp platform is useless, they just don’t respond at all and phoning is pointless unless you want to waste all day on hold

I’ve still got ongoing issues with the system although now it’s batteries not discharging

Well, something magically happened the other day. Happened to have the car plugged in during the afternoon before charging it overnight and noticed that the solar redirection was now working, any excess when over 1.6KW was going to the car. Weird huh.

Good luck to anyone else who's had the same 'feature'.
