My Giv Energy battery Inverter Inverter Model
GIV-HY3.6 is not not working as it should and the battery does not discharge. The battery stays always at 100 % and I have to pay standard Energy day rate. Does anybody has an Idea what goes wrong ?
Or does anyone has an e-mail for Give energy Tech support ? Tried going via my installer, but they are not helpfull at all.

Sounds like Eco may not be on?
Go to settings in the app and look at Eco plus whether there any timed charge/discharge/expiry slots enabled

Eco setting is enabled ...

In the top right corner, it seems to be "exporting 12.5kW", despite idle solar and battery.
And red above, rather than below, the line is consistent with that.

Is this a new installation? If so, my suspicion would be on the CT clamp being reversed, though I believe there's also a software setting that can set it, so perhaps that has become spontenously reversed. (After a firmware update, perhaps ?)

  • oh, based on the total exports etc, this is not a new installation... Have you had any work done on the electrics recently ?

  • overnight, it looks like it knew it was importing overnight, since the red is below the line.

It was working fine for the last 2 years and the problem appeared out of nowhere early last week. We have not altered anything physical on the Inverter and we have not updated the Firmware recently .
has Anyone the Phonenumber of Givenergy helpline ?
My dashboard tells me the I export up to 360 KwH per day since 16th July !

Swiftcity1 there's a contact link in the menu on the app. Whatsapp seems to be their preference now?

Using the web portal go to My Inverter on LHS then Settings along top line and Reset to defaults.
OR
Go to web portal, go to My Inverter on LHS, then Restart Inverter icon top RHS of page

Hello Steve, thank you for your post. I tried this and it has not made a difference.
I tried to phone Givenery but they push endusers to their Whatsapp. I tried to contact give energy support via WhatsApp the whole day 10 times with no answer. Quite disappointing !

[unknown] are you trying to call the WhatsApp number? I think it's supposed to be chat messages?

Try a full power down of everything to get the battery and inverter to reboot.
Mains breaker, PV DC strings, inverter braker to battery etc. Let all lights go off . say 30 seconds and power on again.
There is a shutdown and restart sequence some where, you may have to search

Not good that your installer is not playing ball. But the reset that SteveCook suggests doesn’t work then this is something that I would say the installer should help with in the first instance. After all your contract is with them not GE. And when you do get in touch with GE they might say they want you to get your installer to check some things first. Otherwise you could get into the who charges more for their initial investigations GE or your installer. Good luck. Hope the rest works.

I'm having similar issues, the system for no apparent reason has started doing what it wants and refuses to use ECO mode. Here to follow along and offer support should I find the solution. About to try the power down suggested above.

yhzgirl No luck with the full shutdown. Still pulling from the grid despite there being battery power available. I guess it's time to call the installer.

Perhaps something to check: there should be a small meter as part of the install - the CT clamp connects to it, and then the inverter gets the readings from there. Could check that an RCD hasn't tripped, which would stop it being able to report consumption.

For that matter, check also the RCD on the supply to the inverter, though I guess you'd have seen that as part of full shutdown/restart.
