8kWh changed itself to 3kWh battery !

My 8.2kWh battery installed in January worked well until June. Now it charges from 4% to 100% in 45 minutes with a 3kWh inverter? Smart meter registers 2.6kWh drawn from grid. Firmware updated to 3007 - no change. Have forced disharge (100% to 4% took 45 minutes) and forced a charge from 4% to 100% (took 45 minutes) - no change. When fully charged at 1900hour the battery would kick in and supplied power all night with approx 20% remaining at 0800hrs when the PV charging kicked in. Now the battery is fully disharged by 2300hrs. Givenergy support have gone very quiet on my requests. Installer doesn't understand the problem. Can anybody HELP?

It sounds like a faulty battery cell in which case Giv Energy support would need to send someone out. I requested ages ago to be able to see the current battery capacity like the old dashboard allowed us to do. But that feature has not appeared, it would be helpful in this case to see it.

Contact your installer, get them to do a SOC Calibration.

If issue remains, Its a GE call. Who will 1stly want to see a SOC, so you can get ahead of the game

I did also go looking at the API but that doesn't give individual cell data, just the total. There was a battery API but I can't find any reference to that. Maybe it's been withdrawn? Does @hoggy know?

Tim Hi Tim - this is a bit too technical for me. Doubt if I would understand the significance of all the figures. I would hope this is the type of thing that Givenergy could do remotely.

Battery API is gone sadly, only way is GivTCP or speaking to support who do have the cell voltages on their admin screens.

The best the new API can give you is via the somewhat unintuitive call to get the Dongle information, which also returns the latest battery capacity reading (I.e 160AH) however I don’t believe it’s a live value and only get updated when a calibration is run so can be a red herring.
Note: users now can’t self run calibrations either, only engineer and above accounts or GE support.

I have two 5.2 batteries installed 7th June and have wondered about the actual capacity. I did the update to 3007 on the 28th and the resulting calibration went as follows:
100% at 1120
45% at 1245
01% at 1250
then slow rise to 100% at 1810. (Solar only)

Waiting for a couple of bad days solar to see what happens.

johnnutton exactly the same thing happened to me after installing the last software update. 8Kw dropped to 2-3Kw. Been onto GE about it for 2 months. They sent an engineer out to “replace” the battery, bizarrely the battery that was broken is now fixed and the 2nd battery that was working perfectly developed the exact same fault, the day after the engineer was here…coincidence? GE have now been ignoring my emails and my suppliers emails for about 2 weeks now. I’ve always been happy with their support in the past, but not impressed currently.

Finally had a visit from GE engineer. He agreed that battery was only holding "less than 3kW". Turned out to be a faulty connection between the "cells". Disconnected the cables, cleaned the terminals, reconnected ensuring a tight and clean fit. BINGO, the battery is now performing again as it should do. Thank you GE - just the lead time between fault and cure needs to become more efficient. Was not a fault of the installer but they could have been more "customer friendly" in their response to the problem.
