AIO and Gateway. Multiple failures to update over a couple of days
Is it a Wifi dongle update? The system is hardwired so no need for wifi, but still thought an update would be successful
Anyone else experiencing this?
I've tried Givenergy CS but WhatsApp is constantly busy.

Never really had any issues updating firmware with my AIO / Gateway over wired Ethernet. Think I had a fail once when there were multiple updates but started again and it went through the 2nd time.
Yes there was a dongle update a while ago and that ran ok.
I just start the update then close the portal browser and App and leave the system alone until a notification comes through

Tried this morning.
"0% Updating Inverter ARM. "
Then quits.
There is an option to update via download but not sure about going down that route.
Any advice gratefully received.

You will have to download the file and go down that route.
Have you watched the GivEnergy videos showing how to update?

It shows how to update the firmware manually on the AIO which has a USB port, The Gateway does not (or at least I cant find it).
Spent three hours on the WhatsApp helpdesk who seemed obsessed with wifi connectivity(the system is hardwired). A total waste of time!
Tried:
Restarting router
Turning off/on Gateway and AIO in correct sequence
Turning off/on Gateway only.
The surprising thing is that the system appears to be working as expected.
The GE app picks up the correct Inverter IP address (static, reserved on router)
I cannot restart the Gateway from the web portal (inverter offline)and the last time online is about a week ago.
Anyone got any thoughts?

Disconnect the Gateway Ethernet cable for a couple of mins then reconnect- see if that re-establishes comms and brings it back online. May take a few mins after reconnection to show in the portal.

The Ethernet cable is buried away inside the Gateway dangerously close to live feeds so I'll give it a miss.
I've restarted my router several times to no effect
Thanks anyway.

mikes01666 Unplug it at the other end of the same cable. ie at the router or switch. Same effect.

I would have thought that restarting the router (which I've done several times) would have the same effect but I will give it a try.

mikes01666 If you are powering off to reboot router probably. If you are pressing buttons to reboot or software command not always. Giv Gateway really needs to see they phyical layer link stop and start to restart the comms (without actually power cycling the board in the Gateway)

SOLVED.
For the first 9 months after commissioning the AIO and Gateway were able to simultaneously access the internet (via Sky).
Ten days ago the Gateway went offline and it was not possible to update the firmware (hence the title of this thread)
After hours of waiting I got through to Callum at Givenergy who was really knowledgeable and helped me update the firmware. However even though Gateway could connect, the AIO couldn't.
Unbeknown to me (as I'd asked them to hardwire the Gateway and AIO) the installers had hardwired the AIO, BUT not the Gateway. As the system was working fine up to 10 days ago I had no reason to suspect the use of WiFi.
What I think happened (I have no evidence to support this) is that Sky pushed out a router update that terminated the wifi connection to the Gateway. Callum thinks that both items were named the same by Givenergy so causing only one to connect at a time.
Anyway, I opened up the Gateway and found the LAN port (helpfully labelled) and connected it via a long ethernet cable to my router. Changed one of the dip switches. Result - instant connection.
Moral. Always try to use ethernet and make sure you check with your installer as to what they've done.
