AIO + Gateway + String inverter on the same portal?

I had an AIO + Gateway installed in November 2024 and just last week had a solar array and string inverter installed. The engineers said the string inverter could not be on the same GivEnergy account as the AIO so setup a new one for it.

Although the solar generation shows up in my original main portal, the inverter does not.

Is this correct or should everything all be in the same account?

Thanks,

I have an AIO and gateway. My solar panel inverter is connected into the Gateway and shows up on the same account. It has a dedicated ct so I can see pv production via a myenergy app. Why would you need a separate a/c?

Hi thanks for your reply.

This was my question really, I had taken what they said on installation at face value and am now questioning why.

Is it possible for me to have my solar inverter put onto my main account?

Ben Robins Was it the same company who installed the AIO and then the inverter?

If so then there's no reason they can't be on the same account.

If not then I suspect the PV/inverter installers are attempting to avoid taking "ownership" of the system, which according to GE installer T&Cs is what should happen. Last company to install GE stuff to an existing GE system is supposed to assume responsibility for the entire system.

Bloody silly arrangement and that's one of the many reasons installers aren't that keen on GE these days.

Vestas Sadly no, its a different outfit who just installed the solar. The original installer who did the AIO + Gateway shut up shop and went back to college shortly after.

Can I do it myself and own it or would this likely void any warranties I have with the installers do you think? Is it possible to do a self commission?

Ben Robins You can't do it yourself as you don't have an installer account.

If GE support actually existed in a meaningful way I'd suggest getting in contact with them.

You'll probably have to anyway as the new installers have probably voided the original warranty by NOT taking over the entire system. GE are/were pretty clear on this - the last installer to touch the system is supposed to "take ownership".

Best of luck.....

And just to say you can have multiple inverters on the same givenergy account, I have both of my hybrid inverters on the same account. I have heard other people that have ended up with inverters on different accounts, maybe it wasn’t originally possible and the installers are advising you with old information.

Thank you. I'd really like to know how to consolidate them into one account at this stage. I do fear that the new installers didn't want to take on the responsibility of the existing account / install and just get the job signed off as soon as possible.
