Hi all,

Something strange is happening to the battery as sometimes it will start to discharge all the power stored. It's not being exported to the grid as its not been setup for the time.

not sure if the image is uploading properly, first time posting, but can see that battery percentage was 32% at 8:20am and 1% at 8:35am.

I looked at the systems data and can see battery error data is different at that time period.

Anyone has come across this and know how to fix this? It happens once in awhile so not a massive problem, but we dont want to lose battery power like this as increases our costs obviously.

Inverter model is GIV-AC3.0, battery a is lithium-ion at 186 Ah | 9.52 kWh | (1 Pack).

thanks for peoples time in advance.

Wayland this is not the battery draining, it is the battery loosing track of its state of charge, thinking it has more charge than it has, and correcting itself.

You can’t stop this entirely but what you can do to avoid it as much as possible is (1) ensure you are running on the newest firmware and (2) try to use the battery fully, i.e. charge to full and discharge to empty, once in a while, say every couple fo weeks. Keeping the battery on nearly full all the time will cause it to lose track of SoC occasionally

I would assume with a battery that you charge to 100% overnight on cheap rate and use it all (down to say 5% during the day) to avoid any grip import, unless you are holding high % charge expecting a grid outage. Mine goes 100%-%5 most days unless I think there might be a storm on the way, in which case I set min around 50%. I think there is a way in HA/Predbat to automate storm settings, but that is too much for me

Good strategy. there is a weather alert option in predbat, I personally am not using it because I found that predbat crashed horribly when it couldn’t connect to the weather alert. I did bug it but Trefor has lots on his plate so its not been looked at.
