Hi All, new install on Monday (Dual AC 3kW + Dual 8.2kWh AC coupled system), trying to make sense of the web power graph.

At a given point at 5am this morning I can see

  • PV power 0
  • Battery Charge 0
  • Battery Discharge 671W
  • Load power 266W
  • grid import 9W
  • Grid export 12W

Sum = 408w going where?

What am I missing?

Thanks

Tobes

chocolatetrees the data points are a snapshot at 5 minute intervals. I'm not 100% sure on how they work, but I don't think you can export and import at the same time so they could be a few (milli)seconds between each reading being recorded and could lead to some discrepancies like this.

Cdent Agree. I was under the impression this would be the net average of each field for the 5 min interval period. The sum of the 5 min period would only make sense as a Wh rather than W figure, and it cant be snapshot as grid cant be both in and out. Just trying to understand what I am seeing. One thought - because this is a dual AC "plant" system, am I seeing some double counting here? Not sure!

chocolatetrees I'm not sure how often the inverter (as Modbus master device) polls data from other Modbus devices: EM115 meter and battery(ies), but the squirt of data every five minutes to the portal is simply the contents of registers at that time. The portal is good but it just isn't of use to tell you what is happening across the piece at a single point in time. Even the 10s update on the app is the register contents at that time rather than the actual import/export measured by the EM115.

I think of it as looking out of the back window of a car on a journey: you felt the change of speed/direction, but it's only after you've passed the cat in the road or see the junction turned at, do you see what it was. And sometimes, the cat has disappeared, so you never know what caused the blip.

Tim Thanks Tim, that makes a lot of sense as in "ignore the values look at the trend". It's something I am used to from juggling PVOutput, smartmeter and solarimmerson for the last 8 years, so will continue to do that. :-)
