Does the GivEnergy Smart Tarrif option work with Intelligent Octopus Go? When IOG charges my EV (via a 3-pin plug) outside of the over night cheap rate period, how can I stop this drawing power from my battery rather than the grid? This is not a problem in summer when there is plenty of solar to keep the battery topped up but in winter in can drain my battery so it no longer covers all my usual daytime consumption.

This doesn't answer the question directly but offers an alternative. Predbat on Home Assistant integrates with the BottlecapDave Octopus Energy Integration and although I am not on an Intelligent tariff I believe has a sensor for dispatches so you could pause batteries or charge them during the dispatch to take advantage of the cheap electricity. From reading through the docs I believe this is built into Predbat and you wouldn't need to create your own automation.
If setting up Home Assistant yourself sounds too much for you then I believe there is now a company doing cloud hosted Predbat.
pwdst correct, in fact predbat does all that automatically, if you get an extra cheap rate slot then predbat will charge your battery as well as the EV, or at least stop the batteries from discharging.
Another option for @SteveUK is you need your electrician or installer to rearrange the wiring of your EV and GivEnergy inverter so that the inverter CT clamps don’t “see” the draw from the EV. Basically the EV charger connection must be straight on the grid after your supply meter, and then the inverter CT clamps are connected after that where the supply goes into the rest of the house/fuseboxes, etc.

I believe that Wonder Watt can automatically schedule the IOG "out of cheap period" automatic slots, and it states that it can pause your home batteries or charge at the same time. Either would stop you depleting your house batteries. I think you can test the system for a period, so there is no initial cost involved to see if it works for you.

Unfortunately scheduled IOG slots seem to change quite frequently, often at the last minute, so basing import decisions based on them can go wrong. Perhaps because I only tend to charge relatively small amounts, I often get only 10 mins in a half-hour period. Say eg charging is scheduled 0820 to 0900, so should be cheap from 0800. But if they change their mind at 0815, and make it 0900 to 0940 instead, importing at 0800 turns out to have been at day rate.

WonderWatt polls the Octopus API for new on the fly slots and if one is detected, it will send a command to the inverter to 'hold' the battery during that slot preventing discharge and also charging it at the lower IOG rate.
WW doesn't care what the EV charger is as long as the data appears in the Octopus API.
This does mean WW IOG doesn't work that well with Ohme Pro chargers because Ohme implement IOG with their own app/API and not the Octopus API.
