Hi, anyone else had a problem with forced charge over night? I've set it to fully charge the battery between 2-5am but last 2 nights it hasn't !?

What kit do you have
What tariff are you on
How/where did you set the charge

I'm on octopus Flux I think where it's cheapest rate to import is between 2 and 5 am .
I have a solar battery
I set the battery to charge to 100% in settings

JoB not so long ago, someone found that the enable AC charge flag had spontaneously cleared. Even if the app shows it as on, try disabling then reenabling it, to ensure app and inverter are in sync.

I contacted Give energy and it's all fixed now and charged up ok last night

JoB Firstly, well done for getting GivEnergy to respond. That seems to be remarkably difficult these days.
Secondly I would have a look at the log to see what they did to fix it and either post here, make a note or both so that you can solve the problem yourself if it happens again.
If GivEnergy do end up going out of business then the community would probably shut down anyway of course, so probably worth keeping a record yourself either way. Posting on the Community might just help other customers faced with the same issue.

My battery did not charge last night for the first time. I have attached the log. It looks like the Smart Tariff is updating AC Charge Start 1 and End 1 several times a day and yesterday did not write the 04.00-07.00 period.

If it does it again tonight I will switch off the Smart Tariff option in the app and revert to using Home Assistant to control the battery.

"If GivEnergy do end up going out of business..." - is there a concern that GivEnergy is on shaky ground, or is this a hypothetical?

The support situation is anecdotally causing a lot of installers to abandon the company for other suppliers, which will not be a sustainable situation long term.
I am considering if I dare risk investing in more GivEnergy batteries given the current situation, other users will likewise hesitate when they come across negative reports and reviews. There are even a couple of users here contemplating ripping out working GivEnergy kit and starting again.
What will really kill them is the installers though, once they have given up on you it will be very hard to get them back.
The only reason I am contemplating spending more money on GivEnergy kit at all is local control - meaning I am not reliant on their app or portal as long as the kit at least keeps working. I did have a scare when a calibration went awry the other day though.

You would have thought that with the potential market in the UK, GivEnergy would be driving hard to establish a strong brand and make some good return.

Lots of staff have left and job review sites not been favourable, so goodness knows what has been going on. I would personally love them to be successful and continue to grow but they have to sort these staffing and support issues - and quickly.
The last set of accounts are quite old now but show the company as being profitable - at least at a glance - so there may be time if the management are on the ball.
It's not impossible this is the fallout of growing sales faster than their support organisation could keep up with, especially as this is very much on the complex side for consumer kit.

I think this is very much the case. GivEnergy were heavily promoted, the kit seemed good and sales were very strong. Arguably too strong and the support organisation couldn’t cope with the ticket volume. And progressively we’ve seen it get harder and harder.

The other thing I’d say is that despite all the testing they do, products seem to be pushed out before they are truly ready. The AIO and the EV charger have both suffered from a lot of early days problems, lots of firmware debugging and upgrades required; and that in turn creates a further drag on support capacity.
I don’t know whether the 3-phase and HV stackable systems are better in that respect, I don’t believe the app or portal still properly support these new products, but don’t seem to have the same stories on here that we had with the other kit.

As said if the installers stop putting in their kit then things are not going to go well for the company. They are the lifeblood

It all started when Octopus sacked them as a supplier. Octopus were their biggest customer (bigger than all the rest put together at one point) and things went into freefall then.

They've pretty much got rid of every director/senior manager since then and things have simply got worse.

Their model depends on installers and installers don't want to know about GE these days. Their support line is no better than the end-users and its the installer who'll get taken to court, not GE.

Its definitely NOT growth which caused these issues - its the rapid contraction and unprofitability once Octopus sacked them.....

Did the support problems cause the loss of the Octopus business, or are they a result of subsequent cost cutting I wonder.

pwdst My understanding is that Octopus sacked them because of battery issues/reliability.
