My battery has not been charging since 29/10.

The battery charge 'collapsed' at about 12 noon, and has not charged since.

Anybody else?

I'm a novice at this so apologies if this is old hat to you, but it's a good idea to take a look at the logs at the bottom of the remote control - go to My Inverter, then click on the cog (Remote Control) at the end of the row on the right. The on the new page right at the top click on Jump to Logs. Often you can see changes that have been made and by whom that explains the problem.

Thanks. It strange, there is no log activity that I can see at about the time of the problem. The next record after 'the event' is at around 16:00 which says that the battery is at 100%, but the graph for the day suggests the battery went to zero of around 11:30 and has never recovered - see screenshot of graph for the day here ...

My parents have exactly this on their system. They've been trying to get support from GE today without any luck. I've tried reboots and a firmware update but nothing seems to kick the battery back to life

Can you check in your App (on your phone). In the middle of the bottom row, do you have an icon that looks like a Play or Pause button? If this isn't showing then you can add it using the hamburger menu (top right) > Settings > Show Quick Settings Button
It could be that you accidentally hit this Play/Pause button, which would pause the operation of the inverter.
Try this and see if it works.

arnells That is indeed odd. I can't see how that sudden drop to zero could be due to a battery discharge - I would have thought discharging that fast would blow up the battery.
I don't suppose something like a trip switch on the battery or the invertor has flicked off?
Also as @Dabz has mentioned, have you tried rebooting everything?

@arnells the battery didn't discharge all the power that quickly,, its just not possible

one of a number of things has happened:

  • the inverter has lost communication with the battery
  • the battery has failed
  • the battery has suffered from a SoC drop whereby it realises it doesn't have the amount of SoC it thought it had. But usually it doesn't go down to zero and it will recover itself and enable future charging

in the portal, go to inverter details and look at notifications, it might give a clue as to any error occurring in the inverter/battery

it will need givenergy support and/or possibly your installer to recover this. All you can do is chase both

arnells are there any lights on the battery? (Assuming it's a separate battery rather than aio). I think there are breakers near or on the battery (depending on model) - have you checked those?
