Battery charging to 100% outside set timed charge

I've had a faulty isolator switch between my AIO and Gateway replaced today (it burnt out due to poor connections). My battery is set to charge to 100% from 23.30-05.30 (Intelligent Octopus Go cheap period) but having been restarted today the battery has charged itself during the daytime to 100% and is maintaining its charge at 100%. I'm not sure why it has done this. Is this something it does after being re-started? I await to see if it returns to normal overnight. Any ideas?

Possibly a calibration? Check the log. If it was a calibration it should be a one-off.

Yes, I wondered that but its still maintaining the battery at 100% the following day. I've tried reducing charging rate to 0 but it still keeps topping the battery up and I've tried setting up a timed discharge but no change.

"Maintaining charge at 100%" and "keeps topping the battery up" are very different symptoms. (The former implies running exclusively from grid and the battery does nothing ; the latter that the battery is sometimes involved.)

What exactly are you seeing ?

With the battery at 99% the Home dashboard shows the house being powered from the battery (eg 100W) and the grid (eg 150w) and solar (eg 200W). When there is excess solar, it shows the battery and the solar exporting to the grid. I think it has shown the grid charging the battery but as the battery is sending very little to the house it doesn't have to happen very often to keep the battery full.

SteveUK That's interesting... so even when there is sufficient solar, it is choosing to discharge the battery. Is it the same 100W ?

(While the app may be showing battery going to the grid, it can't really track which electrons are going where. So it could just as well show the battery going to the house.)

I don't know anything much about AIO and gateway. I think that the gateway takes full control, and the AIO just does what it's told ? If the comms between them wasn't working correctly, I wonder how it would behave.

Is the AIO/gateway involved in the DC side of solar, or does it take in AC from solar merely in order to measure it? (And maybe so it still works while off-grid ?) Is the 100W merely the consumption of the AIO itself, coming from battery in the first instance ?

I managed to update the firmware and that seems to have cleared whatever the issue was 🙂
