I've not been notified of a GivBack event but noticed that at 17.00 on 06/11/25 my battery was exporting to the grid. My Inverter settings have been changed and message stated that I could not changing settings as it was locked and controlled by GivBack.
GivBack had set my Inverter for Export 17.00 - 19.00. As of 20.30 my Inverter was still "locked" by GivBack.
Is this how or should work or is there a problem?

RMoore As I understand it Once you go with a service like Giveback you relinquish control of your inverter until such time as you cease the service. In other words you now have no control over when your system charges or discharges.

Yes, things like Intelligent Octopus Flux you give full control to Octopus
But with things like GivBack I believe it's only for specific periods of demand response. For example a saving session (DFS event) or an unexpected loss of generation/interconnector (something failed, urgent need for battery storage to boost the grid).

Two successful bids. Whether Axle is operating under one of those company names, I don’t know. But if you have signed up for GivBack then they can do things like force charge and force export your inverter to meet grid demand.

As of 08.45 07/11/25 I still have no control over my Inverter.
I don't know for sure, but I have got the impression that by having permission to directly control your inverter, GivBack are able to respond to alerts at very short notice. There was a press release last year when they'd managed to "save" the grid by responding to a generator failure. Players such as Octopus OTOH have to persuade users to participate in DFS events, and have to give plenty of notice.
But GivBack certainly ought to give back control ASAP after the event. (But other people tell of having to fight to get control back after leaving IOF, so perhaps there's a problem at the GE end with turning off this lockout feature ?)
I beleive Axle no longer run the Givback scheme underneath for them so Givenergy may indeed show up in DFS as someone else.
It really feels like my Inverter has been 'hijacked'. GivBack still have it locked, battery is at 21% and 'lock' is preventing it was being charged either from the grid at cheap night rate or from solar. I have tried contacting GivEnergy by WhatsApp, telephone and email, no replies received from any of my messages.
Morning. It seems I have the same problem. I signed up to GivBack recently, and have not even participated in an event yet, but GivBack have locked my inverter. I have texted and emailed them just now, I'll wait to see what they say.
Can you revoke their access in the portal?
Account Settings -> Account Security -> Connected Services
Whilst you are there check "Manage givenergy.cloud API Tokens".
It might also be worth cancelling/deleting GivBack in their that app first if that is an option so that they relinquish control/unlock the batteries before you remove the integration. Clearly it won't be able to work without access anyway, but isn't functioning well enough to continue to have control.
There may be no option to withdraw/cancel and it may not unlock the batteries if there is, but at least everything would be in sync that way.
Thank you pwdst. I have revoked access and appears that Inverter is back within my control and I have re-enabled my original Eco, timed charge, timed discharge and timed export settings.
