Battery at 0% not charging

Hey,

Just wondering if anyone has come across this before. Battery has suddenly decided to stop charging for the last couple of days. There is currently full sun and the inverter is sending power to the house and grid but not the battery. Have tried to force a recharge but not worked either.
I have got Home Assistant with Predbat installed and that isn't triggering a charge either.
What concerns me is that on the Inverter page under "Battery Capacity" it shows as 0.51kWh when we have a 9.5kWh battery installed.
Anyone got any tips on how to get this back to normal? Have emailed support but this could take up to 5 days it says.

If you use GivTCP with Predbat search for calibration entities in Home Assistant and let us know what the status is.
It should be labelled something like Battery Calibration Status and the name will be something along the lines of sensor.givenergy_saXXXXXX_battery_calibration_status
For normal operation the value should be "Off".

pwdst Thanks for the reply. So I can't see any "calibration" entities and I am using GivTCP.
I have the below errors where Battery SOC reported as 0% in GivTCP, not sure if this helps at all?
I've just compared this data to what I see in the GivEnergy dashboard and it matches.

It looks like it has lost your batteries completely.

pwdst Yeah this is my concern, and nothing has changed. I've downgraded Predbat to see if that caused an issue but doesn't look to have done.
My main concern is the battery capacity on the inverter page showing 10h | 0.51kWh

Just a thought! Has your battery tripped? Are there any lights on the battery?
You could try switching the battery off, wait for 30 seconds, then switch on again then see if it starts showing up.

TimHutchings No idea why I haven't checked this yet, but just had a look and battery was completely switched off for some reason and had no lights on it.
Turned it back on, heard a beep and got a green status light and LED1 is now flashing so hopefully that's some better news.
Will leave it for a while now and see if that fixes it, thank you for the suggestion!

I work in tech support as well 🙃 No idea why I didn't try the classic turn it off and back on again!

😄 ! I'd force a bit of charge in it and get it up to at least 10%, then if you have a low cost charging period give it a full charge. It may be that the battery switched off to save itself like a phone if the voltage got too low.

TimHutchings not looking promising! Turned it back on, led1 flashing but then the status light turned red.
Switched it off, turned the breaker off and left it for a minute then turned back on. Still not getting anything from it.
Looks like I'll be contacting support!

Sounds to me like it's either a faulty battery cell block or faulty BMS which will need a call out, or it's gone so flat that it's too low to charge by regular means. I remember Paul Landregan on the Facebook group of GE, was able to kick start someone else's that had dropped too low. Normally, the battery stops at 4%, but if it's not charged soon after, then gradually the last few percentages ebb away till it becomes too low to accept a charge.
Paul does frequent this forum occasionally but he seems to spend far more time on the Facebook forum so it might be worth posting on there, and if you're lucky, he may take a look at it for you and be able to do something remotely.

You can do a further check.

Power off batteries.

Isolate it from the inverter by turning the breaker off.

Then while isolated power the batteries back up. If the lights stay green it is likely the inverter is the issue.

If the batteries get a red status then likely a battery issue.
