I am thinking to extend my system by adding another Gen 3 5.2 battery to my current system which has two Gen 1 (5.2) batteries. The software for the Inverter is D0.316-A0.316 and both batteries have 3020 firmware. The installer will add the new battery next to Battery 2. Can anyone see any possible issues? e.g. firmware with the 3rd battery? Do all batteries need to have same firmware? Thanks Andy

the firmware shouldn’t be an issue although you could upgrade the Gen 1 batteries to 3022 which is the latest firmware.

The new battery is actually 5.12 kWh (100% depth of discharge) and I believe it has to go first in the chain.

The issue you have of the chain stopping charging when one battery gets to full or empty will be slightly more compounded by the addition of a 3rd battery so you won’t be able to get full capacity all the time, but you can certainly mix and match and newer firmware allows for this.

my inverter set up is FD2324F159
Can you update the battery firmware from your end? I believe you did it for me in May
