Roy124 I got the same email as well today, I didn’t join Cosy last winter until the end of January 2025 (after bearing an expensive month of Agile rates), so maybe I missed out on it last year?
It’s not clear to me either exactly what they mean by “area”. We could ask Octopus I suppose, or just let it happen as a nice surprise. It’s not as if I can influence the calculation either way.
Slight side aside, I clicked the links in the Octopus email to see if I could find out any more about this scheme, and couldn’t, but on the main Octopus Cosy page in the “am I eligible for Cosy” FAQ:
If you have a heat pump (air or ground source), an electric boiler or electric radiators at your property, you can join Cosy Octopus. If you have another system in your property, get in touch and we'll let you know if you're eligible for the tariff.
So by that I could interpret that if you have a couple of electric radiators, then you’re eligible for Cosy. Even if you have gas central heating as well, just as long as you have a couple of plug in oil radiators (we have them in a couple of our sheds), its OK.
Doesn’t say anything about that has to be your primary heating source. Maybe loose words in the FAQ and the actual terms and conditions are tighter, but interesting.
