Since a new router was installed I have been trying to connect the dongle: failed. Click on the WIFI network; locked. I have NO password. Tried every suggestion I could think of, but no way can I get my dongle open. Tried the usual 12345678, Inverter's serial number, admin, current router, previous router passwords. At a loss as of course the batteries are not functioning. Help

Can you login to your new router and change the SSID and password to that of your old router.
That way everything that used to connect will auto connect.
You should turn off 5gHz on your new router until the dongle connects. You should assign a fixed IP to your dongle - it will be called something like HF-21. It will make it easier for the dongle to connect after a powercut etc.
When dongle is connected you can turn 5gHz back on.
Check sure your router security is WPA2 as that is all the dongle can handle.

Thanks guys. So far I am still stuck with the problem that the dongle itself will not re-set. No matter how often I have tried pushing the re-set button for the required number and waiting for ages it still does not work. I have emailed the supplier and told them that as the dongle is still under Warranty (6 years), I think it is faulty and want an engineer to visit and replace. The ball is currently in their court! Waiting their response.

I think others have posted about dead dongles and found it easier/quicker to just get on and buy a replacement.
I think there is some PC work needed to get your existing inverter serial number onto the new dongle needed.

SteveCook agreed, Catriona whether your installer agrees to replace the dongle under warranty, up to them of course, but people that in the past have had similar problems have found that Givenergy haven’t replaced them under warranty, and as Steve says, quicker to buy a new one from trade sparky or its technologies shop. About £50 I think.

The PC work referred to is that you need to copy the serial number file (I think its MSN.TXT) from the USB drive on the dongle onto the new dongle as otherwise the givenergy portal won’t recognise it as being connected to your inverter. There are previous threads on this forum covering the steps needed

I'd actually advise people to buy a replacement dongle and test it before you need it.

Statistically it is more likely to fail than the inverter, so a "backup" is wise, especially the way GE support is these days.

Thanks guys - that is a great idea. Maybe I will just go and do this as we have had a running battle with AJ Renewables - the firm we bought the original batteries, inverter, dongle etc. No answer to phone call or recorded delivery letter. And they have the cheek to be advertising themselves fitting Sigenergy stuff etc etc on Facebook. Makes me very cross. We will it another go with AJ this week but your plan about replacing the dead dongle sounds good. Watch this space for more hassle with AJ!!

Thanks guys. Dongle update: now working; but new problem - flat batteries and need to restart somehow. AJ Renewables are trying to wriggle out of this and trying to say that they are not responsible. Watch out! Under the Sale of Goods they are> We will move to a Solicitors next if they don't comply and get the batteries working and/or take them away and refund the whole money. At present would NOT recommend this firm at all. They are just tootling around getting new custom and leaving us and others in the lurch. Bad practice. Hopefully someone out here will know about recharging batteries - HELP
