Anyone else suffer from a firmware update about 7 months ago, that resulted in the Slave battery more or less doing nothing, and the status light is now a yellow green,
I updated the new firmware available yesterday and it resulted in NO change.
Add to that, I have communicated with Givenergy on phone, email, feedback and had ZERO replies/response. shocking.
gen2 & gen1 bat's in parallel, Gen1 permanently semi idle
What batteries are they?
How are they wired in parallel, I thought they should be daisy chained?
If parallel, can you turn off/disconnect the Gen2. What does the Gen1 do?
SteveCook
Hi Steve, they are Givenergy batteries, the primary is the newest 9.5kw Gen2, and the secondary is the older 8.2kw Gen1 battery.
I believe Givenergy always hook more than one battery up in parallel.
If I turn off the primary Gen2 battery, then I get zero, it does not see the Gen1 slave battery at all.
swede
Has the BMS cable become unplugged from the 8.2?
Is the 8.2 turned on. Are any breakers tripped?
swede If I turn off the primary Gen2 battery, then I get zero, it does not see the Gen1 slave battery at all.
There's a reason for that...
😉
My slave has had a yellow light for quite a while. It's working ok and from searching the GE information I can't find what it signifies.
If I reset the slave (power down) it will go green but at some point when I check it's yellow again.
When I get more time I will document it and do an assessment on how poorly the slave is performing never charging up to 100%.
My slave does discharge but just not as good as it previously did so I am running out of juice sooner than I used to...
SteveCook All cabling is good, it is turned on and no breakers have tripped, or have ever tripped. It started exactly at the time of the firmware update 7 months ago, it is almost as if the master/slave control software is not performing correctly.
M_J looks like you are in exactly the same boat as myself, be interesting to know if your slave bat is also ultimately "semi" idle, and will not pass around 60% charge, nor discharge much either.
Does the android
inverter monitor app tell you anything?
M_J In reality, I spent £10k on these 2 batteries, and for the last 7 months I might as well only have 1 battery, its a big expense & a loss for something not working correctly
My slave is working, just not to the advertised level.
The app suggested is free and can give you a bit more information.
If it's not discharging below 60% then there is an issue.
My 2.6 will get down to around 10%.
Have you done a complete power down including the inverter?
Have you ensured all registers refreshed and are properly set?
M_J I did do a complete power down, and I have performed a reset, basically it won't charge above 60% and it won't discharge much below 55% just semi idle.
Thanks for checking yours.
I couldn't make out what app that is MJ,
swede Your slave battery may have lost track of its state of charge/health. Try triggering a full calibration overnight (via the portal, 'Remote Control' menu).
ectoplasmosis
The app is the free android inverter monitor for GivEnergy equipment. On the Play Store
ectoplasmosis thanks, I will try this tonight
ectoplasmosis
Well the good news is I did the full calibration, took 15hrs to complete, and it appears to all be running correctly now, with full 100% functionality in both batteries.
So thanks for the heads up Ectoplasmosis & SteveCook, appreciate the responses, did more for me in this chat than Givenergy has done for me, which is a grand total of nothing...
