I've tried uploading .PNG and .JPG images, and none seem to be working for me.

What am I doing wrong?

Not sure, when I copy an image to the clipboard and then paste it into a reply, then the system copies the image to some amazon site so seems to work for me (see below a screen grab of your image, followed by a screen grab of the link created)

eu-west-2 is Amazons London region, whic then has Multiple AZ's (availability zones) for each datacentre in that region

eu-west-1 was the original and based near Dublin, with 3 AZ's from memory.

Each AZ (1,2,3) will be assigned to a physical Datacentre for that account, but a different account will be assigned the 3 AZ's in a different order to spread load and risk. People form habits in using AZ1 as their primary, and if averyone did that then 1 DC would be taking the main load and risk

s3 is the basic storage bucket type (s3= simple storage service) where \ in any file names is just part of the name, not defining hierarchy, it a flat filing system.

Likewise, the web portal runs under eu-west-2.elasticbeanstalk.com/dashboard, where elesticbeanstalk is a PaaS (platform as a service), where app provisioning, auto scaling, healthcheck can be automatically and centrally managed.

norse it could be as simple as your photos are too large. There is a limit to the image file size which causes over large images to be rejected without any meaningful message

Camera phones can create images of ridiculous size. Either try cropping the image or use an image reducer, I use photoshrinker for iOS https://apps.apple.com/app/id928350374
