Had this problem for quite a few weeks now. No change in router/ISP.
I have cleared the data/cache no benefit.
Any other suggestions please.

Login to your router and set the inverter with a fixed IP address.
Put that IP address into the settings in the app

Ok....sounds easy but isn't..the givenergy app>>local monitoring>>scan for your inverter>>Scan complete
There is no IPaddress in that box, but below IPAddresses>>192.168.1.1
which is not listed as a connected device in my router (PlusNet Hub 2)

In the box that has 192.168.1.1 in it, type in the IP address of the inverter.
You should get a tick if it works.

Every now and then, the GE app seems to delete the stored IP address and I have to re-enter it.

I had this previously where 192.168.1.1 was the router rather than the inverter IP address 192.168.1.* changed and all was good.

davidj i have had problems all the time I have used GE.
It worked for some months then AWAY only for well over a year.
Then HOME started working spontaneously. Then it stopped for a month or two.
Then working for some months then stopped week or two back.
Now it works.

Like you I have done nothing.

Now a thought, does AWAY function connect with GE directly? If it does, and HOME relies on home WiFi, the problem lies with my home network.

davidj You enter the actual IP address of your inverter, which you get from your internet router. The star is a placeholder since we don't know your network.
If your router supports it, it is good practice to "reserve" an IP address in your router so that the inverter is always assigned the same one. That way you won't have to frequently update it so the app can find it again.

E.g. If your inverter has the IP address 192.168.1.34 then you would enter that address under Local Monitoring and also check your router documentation to see if you can reserve/pin/allocate that address to the inverter (which is usually done via MAC address - the unique hardware identifier of the dongle).
If it had address 192.168.0.148 then you would enter and reserve that address instead.
It is possible to pick a more memorable address in the range but I wouldn't recommend trying that without learning a bit more about networking first. It makes no practical difference to the equipment- only your ability to remember it.
