I turned off the smart tariff on my app as the end time was not accurate even though nothing had been inputted by me. However from 1.00pm to 8.30am our electricity was running on very high kWh at a consistent level. I have turned this back on as I think this may have triggered the heat pump it the inverter to use high amounts of electricity. Can anyone please advise on this matter.
Smart tariff help
The app doesn't have anything to do with your heat pump.

I have a (ASHP) heat pump (not Octopus so no smart access - yet!) with 5kW inverter and three batteries. I used Flux last year for summer months. But for winter I use Cosy which is designed for ASHP users with three low cost import tariffs (0400-0007, 1300-1600 and 2200-0000) but keep Flux for export. With the lower Cosy rate after 1 April (+/- 10p/kWh) it is excellent. Export rates are often not "accurate" as many say on here but still the costs are reasonable. I hope to move to Octopus Intelligent Flux when Octopus open up customers to take it up (stopped due to Trump's/Netanyahu's War I think)
Smart Tariff does do a degree of automation using the new card so its possible Eco Mode was switched off or just that your charging schedule went away.
If you have a newer inverter you should be able to set 0400-0700, 1300-1600 and 2200-0000 manually as charging slots through the app/portal.
If you have older equipment then they have only got one charge schedule slot so you will need to find some other way of automating the schedule (GivTCP, PredBat, WonderWatt, RubikCube app etc).
You will also want to make sure Eco mode is on and that charge and discharge limits are all appropriate if they might previously have been changed by the Smart Tariff automation.
AndyZ900rs keep Flux for export.
Flux export is only available with Flux import. It is possible that Octopus didn't change you back when you moved to Cosy but you are in a unsupported configuration.

Thank You. You might be right....When I transferred from Flux to Cosy...I checked a week later and realised that I was still on Flux export...I have not queried it (still rates are high 1600-1900!) - will check next bill how much they credited..
