Today (2026-03-31) I received an email explaining that in future "local access" would remain free, but "cloud access" would move to a monthly paid subscription.
I don't know how "local access" will work, at present all write access is via the GivEnergy portal, the app is read-only.
When my system was installed I expected to be able to access it (read and write) only from my home network, and was surprised that I could access it from anywhere. I am not surprised that access via a centrally maintained portal is moving to a paid basis.
I only use the portal to make twice-yearly changes to the times that the battery is charged from the mains; I would be reluctant to loose this ability, or to have to pay for it.
Local access has to mean full (read and write) access, not the local read-only access that the app provides today.
If I could login to the existing portal only from my home network, that would be fine by me (in fact I would prefer it).
