Engineer Commission

I bought a property with a Givenergy system installed. Somehow I managed to get through to Givenergy and the ownership was transferred after months of E-mails and phone calls.

I am now getting another battery installed but the engineer seems to have lost access to the account since the transfer was actioned and says he needs me to get in touch with Givenergy to allow him back on.

I've been trying for days, sending numerous E-mails, being on hold for hours, the contact line says that I should go to the website and click the "live chat" option, which does not exist.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can get in contact with this company?

I wouldn't spend another penny on the system in the circumstances.

Also GivTCP and PredBat with Home Assistant are great options to manage charge and discharge to keep your bills as low as possible. You can buy Home Assistant hardware with it pre-installed or install it yourself on a Raspberry Pi or similar system.

I think there are iOS options but others are better placed to advise on them and they are probably in that thread.

Interesting to see how a CC company will address any claims. My contract was with a now defunct installer who installed a system from a company now in administration.

Different tack, suppose Givenergy (2020 or whatever) fold, what is to stop Givenergy 2026 emerging from the crash and offering, for a fee, to take over.

Stop sniggering.

Vestas the interesting thing is to what extent? I guess anywhere between commissioning an installer to fix it and replacing the entire system.

ie you have 3 years left on warranty then you get one third of what you paid assuming 10 year warranty.

Then wrangling over the cost, assume panels are OK, the system wiring/installation OK, just 1/3 of a replacement battery and/or inverter.

Vestas That's not strictly true, there is a 30% drop at the start of year 2 of ownership and then a grading scale on that. Tbh, I don't think much of the performance warranty is worth the paper it's written on. It's a shame the OG LV batteries are not modular in any way otherwise giv could have just offered refurb units with a replacement pack.
