Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this given that Giv isn't around anymore,
I had a second allinone installed last year and they both work through the gateway, but the house which is on a 100amp fuse is now completely limited to 12.2kwh, you can see this in both octopus and giv app thats the max it will import, so if both batteries recharge at night and a car is on charge the batteries and the car load balance to give 12.2kw max which in the winter means one or both don't get filled in the window off peak. the gateway has been replaced (separate communication issue) and the problem still exists, I suspect its something simple like a CT clamp in the wrong place, its suspicious that 12.2 is the max capacity of both batteries charging, installer doesn't know and was dealing with Giv to try and get an answer but i guess that won't happen now, just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on it

From https://givenergy.com/hardware/gateway/, the gateway will do 18.4kW (which is 80A at 230v). I'm not sure how the gateway would load-balance, but the car charger will have a configured limit for what's "allowed" (measured via its CT clamp) and then it'll modulate itself down if it detects that the limit is being approached. My guess would be that it's the car charger (settings or CT placement) that needs looking at, not the gateway. There are cleverer people around here than me, though, so I'm happy to be wrong on that...

This problem quite often seems to be a problem from users who who upgraded from a single AIO and Gateway to a dual AIO and Gateway.
There are a number of settings that support can make to your Gateway one is Import Limit and and the other is grid power limit. It is quite common to find on upgraded AIO systems from single to dual, the Grid Power Limit setting has been left set to 12kWH. You need support to check these settings for for you and if required upgade your limit to 18kWh.
Over on the Wonder Watt forum I have had long conversations with two different users who both upgraded from single to dual AIO's, both users couldn't get more the 12kWH out of there systems come what may. This resulted in many months of GE support blaming Wonder Watt for the issue instead of looking for the problem. In both cases they eventually found the problem was the Gateway Grid Import Limit being set too low @12KWh.

duplada Thats useful information, I figured its something in the settings or a CT clamp in the wrong place, if Giv support is gone now, is there any way to get into the settings without them?
KevinB sorry i didn't mean the gateway doing the load balancing, I mean the batteries and Charger were somehow balancing out who got what between them, because the combined 2 batteries is 12.2kw and 7,3 on the charger but still only drawing 12.2 total via smart meter read, car went down to about 4 and batteries went to about 6.5 and the rest was house load

I would have hoped that this would be a benefit of choosing an integrated system. But no idea if it works in practise.

So presumably the hypervolt is making its own decisions about the maximum permitted load. And I would assume that it would think it safe to go above 12kW. So perhaps it's taking the full 7kW (?), and then the GE systems have to make do with what's left.
Can you hide the car-charging load from the GE system ? That's a useful way to prevent the house battery discharging into the car.

Dave_Sw1 or is the charger wired through the gateway? I don't know anything about the gateway, but I guess in principle it could limit current to the charger..? (without the hypervolt necessarily knowing)
But that seems a bit unlikely.
DD If you do have a gateway, then you could get your electrician to wire the feed to the EV breaker from the grid side of the gateway. That way the rest of the system will not see the charger or the draw (and thus will not try to support from the battery). This is how my zappi was wired up and it works a treat

Can home assistant and givtcp read the gateway? I have the giv EMS device to balance my 3 AC3's and I have spotted grid limits set. Though mine are for export limits, not looked for a grid in limit.

Dave_Sw1 Dave, I’ve had the same issue up to the 18.8 limit. AIO Battery charging, EV charging, ASHP running then add in any solar PV and whammo Gateway trips. Raised a ticket with GE last July after Paul L said they had a fix where the AIO charging throttles back as it approaches upper limit. Needless to say GE never fixed it! I now tell Predbat to hold off battery charging when it knows the EV is scheduled just in case the ASHP is running. Not so critical in summer but a real pain deep winter. Zappi2 fyi.

This is fully fixed from AIO firmware Version A617-D617 onwards, as long as you have Gateway firmware GAAA0012 or above. Works fine here since last summer.
The issue you will now have is the limit has to be set in the gateway by the helpdesk, or someone who knows how to write to the right register. Unless that has already been set in previous interactions.
Edit. Actually your installer can set it via their app too while the cloud is still working.
