SOC calibration

If I force a battery discharge and full recharge using timed options, does that do the same thing for the SOC calibration as one triggered by Ge support?

I ask because I recently (manually) updated the battery firmware to 3007, and then naturally due to our pattern of usage the batteries ran right down overnight (cursed air con!) and then charged back up to 100% by midday the next day (blessed global warming!)

The portal is now showing the battery firmware as 3007, which I thought did not show up until a SOC calibration had been performed?

wilfleek I performed the 3007 update to my battery yesterday, it was showing 3007 during calibration. I don't believe doing a manual drain and full charge is the same as SOC calibration. A manual drain will just drop to what it thinks is zero (actually to 4%) and then charge to it thinks is 100%. An SOC re-calibration resets those boundaries. Plus some batteries are 100% DOD so there is a built in buffer of what is usable to zero/100%.

Ah but - do the batteries charge/discharge to some calculated SOC figure, or to set battery voltages?

wilfleek I believe that the calibration does a forced discharge until the cell voltages reach the value which they take to be zero and then charge fully until they reach the voltage deemed to be fully charged. They then use these voltages to set the SoC% after setting their operating band . The knowledge base article explains this in % terms but I believe the voltage representing actual 0% and 100% (before introducing the operating band of 15%-95%) are 2.5V and 3.65V.

I've asked for a feature request to increase the number of Notifications in the Inverter log to include such things as a mode change and whether a calibration has been scheduled or is in progress.

Correct in what's said here - the calibration runs it down to its very lower limit, and very upper limit which is reserved and hidden in normal operation.

Well, my SOC calibration run was triggered by support this morning, and all is now well.
