I suspect I know the answer to this is going to be no, but hope you know better than I.
I've just returned from holiday to find that my Wi-Fi went off on Tuesday morning at 09:45 and so my inverter has recorded no data since then until I returned last night and restarted the router. Missing, of course, one of the best days for UK heat and sunshine! Is there any way to recover those statistics from anywhere? Are they held within the inverter at all, for a few days, at least?
Can anyone point me at those exciting missing data points? Thanking you in anticipation.

It doesn't queue up data I'm afraid beyond rolling totals (like Total PV Generated to date, Total import /export to date & so on)
You should in theory be able to see a fairly big jump from when it last connected to when it reconnected but beyond that you won't really know the detail of "when" that occurred.
When it catches up, do you get any daily totals (import/export) or is it just those lifetime cumulative values?
Is the data storage/synchronisation something GivEnergy can hopefully improve with a software/firmware update or is there a limitation with the inverter hardware that would prevent a software enhancement?
As a workaround... are their sufficient rolling total stats to be able to calculate our own daily totals?
As far as I know the inverter does not store the data. If it can't contact the GivEnergy servers then the data is not cached locally and is lost.

My plan for being away from home is to use a simple mechanical socket timer set with the minimum off time of 15 minutes per day with the router plugged in to it.
I will miss 15 minutes of data each day, but at least the router will be restarted once per day to reset potential WiFi failure/lockup.

If the timer switch also breaks modem access to the adsl/vdsl Open Reach Cubicle, do some research into what the cubicle thinks is a poor connection, and how it will deal with it. There is a disconnection rate that will cause speed reduction - or there was.
I use a hardwired modem and a homebrew firewall/router, then use a TP-LINK TL-WA850RE(uk) "range extender", that has a cat5 socket and can be set up as a local access point (less than £4 of Ebay incl postage). It Works perfectly - unlike my previous attempts! Just think about radio signal path, because the dongle is in a location that can be shielded by the inverter itself.

I have cable broadband, so do not have the issue with the network speed learning process that ADSL routers carry out.

I think that is irrelevant. The line training only happens when the line is first activated. This sets a baseline speed on the line which is the most stable speed that is suitable for that line. From then on the DSLAM and the router will constantly negotiate speeds above that.
A router disconnecting will not make that much difference in the line speed. Certainly not enough to affect data transmission from the inverter.
