How can I restart my flat batteries? Can I just recharge them just like an ordinary battery?
Flat batteries
DC direct charge but this is not a job for an untrained consumer.
Catriona I think there is a procedure, but perhaps not DIY...

Yes a very defined process to be followed exactly with the right kit...
Thanks guys - definitely not for me!! I shall try and pass this on to the Installers though they are the least helpful trying to say it is not their problem??? We will see!!
Eventually the installers AJ Renewables came out - after much agro and letter bashing and managed to get some progress with our battery problems a week ago. The guys spent 2 hours with some sort of charger and said the batteries should work. Took the front off etc etc. The batteries showed to charge to one green bar and then the second battery dropped to all red. Later the first returned to all red. By the afternoon both had switched off. The graphs on my dashboard showed a tiny amount at one stage in the battery which was being sent to the grid!!. Next day - nothing showing - surprise!! I could restart manually and they would go to one green top all red bottom and off fairly soon. After deciding to upgrade to Premium, then managed to up-date Inverter Firmware. Health check shows Inverter OK Batteries not!! "Contact help" I haven't been able to do that !! Also today reset batteries to default settings. Any ideas???
I've had my battery get below minimum threshhold so inverter was not able to charge them, and wasn't having much tracktion with my installer to get it fixed, they did provide contact details for Solar Tech Support, who offered remote diagnostics and no fix, no fee for a reasonable £95, which was a lot better than £200 plus VAT call out charge my installer was trying to get me pay in advance, and only if they found that it wasn't my fault, would refund this fee. Long story short, STS were able to get may battery charging within few minutes of me authorising their remote access to the system, after an hour os so they upgraded system firmware, both inverter and battery and system is now up an runnign normally. I'd recommed their service and advise anyone who's still running on old firmware to upgrade.
