This question is purely aimed at anyone who has a GIV-EMS installed.
How is your EMS powered?
Are you using the supplied (cheap & nasty) 5v dc psu and if so is it plugged into a specific power socket such as a socket fed from the inverters EPS output or just a regular socket on the house ring main.
Are you powering it another way such as a DIN rail ac - dc 5v transformer or via a USB adapter
My installer used the supplied 5v dc PSU and I believe it is plugged into a specific double power socket from the inverters EPS output.
Simon-D thanks simon, I never understood why the EMS came with a plug in psu as I think it makes the install look cheap and untidy and I have never been able to find a reference in the install paperwork saying to plug it into a specific outlet. BUT after a year of use and every day being a school day I now understand why it would be plugged into the EPS fed socket.
I now understand that the EMS needs to maintain its power supply at all times, hence powering it from your EPS socket.
My issue with this is if the EPS feature is disabled for some reason in the portal settings in the event of a power cut and requiring the EPS to work, it will not.
The reason I know this is that I've noticed on several occasions my inverters EPS feature had been disabled when checking settings via the GivEnergy official portal and this is the only place you can currently enable or disable it.
So my concern is if the portal ever disappears and the setting went to "disabled" (like it mysteriously has on several occasions) I'd be stuck without a working EPS.

Your EPS is Automatic or Manual switchover.
My is automatic and it does work with the EMS as I found out at in December last year. The only real problem I have with the EPS and EMS is that I need to turn off my heat pump (which I forgot about) due to the load limitation of the system with an single AC3 Inverter and reset the EPS.
Manual switchover maybe would work better for me now with Heat Pump.
I never noticed a EPS settings within the GivEnergy official portal where you can currently enable or disable it on my system.
Rubikcube I have that app but I'm not seeing any EPS settings
Simon-D mine is a Manual changeover. My inverter 1 is whole house (upto 3000w) my inverter 2 is just a double socket
Graham_Harrison It was a new feature in version 4.6 last week. Check on the play store to see if an update is available.
