using special connector cables that cost a mint ??

There is just a chance I may get a gen2 9.5kwh battery in August to add to my 8.2 battery. anyone know anything about using special connector cables that cost a mint ??

Think they were advertised at £75 each on midsummer but difficult to get hold of.

I'm not sure if they are special. The way I understand it, the 8.2kWh battery comes with the cables included in the box. And I can attest to that.
The new battery doesn't come with cables included.

The new cables use a proprietary plug and socket with power and comms in the same connector.

What's not obvious is whether they are rewirable, so you don't end up with looms of too-long, untidy cable.

I bought 15 of the 9.5kWh battery packs and a cable set was supplied for each one.

The link cable G2 to G2 is difficult to get hold of, no one has them yet as far as I know which is irritating as I have clients waiting for dual 9.5kWh installs.

Ii is rather irritating, considering that the Mk1 cables use industry standard connectors and wire.

Neptune I guess you could make your own shorter/longer ones if the plugs have any identification on them. I guess with them being bright orange they are probably some sort of EV related connector from Amphenol or TE Connectivity (or whatever the equivalent is in China)

The Gen2 also used a known connector.

just a note on this, please dont use your own cables - the user that made his own ended up having issues and was told by me to disconnect this cable. Please use approved equipment only.

What happens if you mix Gen1 and Gen2 batteries? I've been trying to add either two 5.2 or a 9.5 kWh to my existing 5.2 - I assume it's a Gen 1. I'm holding back due to (being polite) 'excessive margins' - that's after getting six quotes. I'm not sure wether to keep the Givenergy system, scrap it or just add another AC coupled system. Powerwall is looking cheap by comparison.

This is a question I am trying to find an answer to before I order a Gen2 Battery to go alongside an existing Gen1 battery installed in January this year.

Hoping someone knows the answer?

If it's just cable connectors then that should be solvable, hoping there are no BMS issues or other gotchas...

One would assume that it's possible but I hate making assumptions on tech...
