I've been long suffering infrequent WiFi connectivity issues with my AIO (with GW) setup. With I'm pretty sure the AIO WiFi module being faulty (or a loose connection/PCB trace).
Basically it's works as normal and fine, until the WiFi disconnects and is offline for sometimes minutes, typically hours or occasionally days! Fortunately it eventually comes back and largely does its thing during its disappearance, albeit with zero visibility or control (inverter controlled excess solar EV charging is completely nobbled). What I did finally notice, is that its own installer WiFi also disappears at the same time, suggesting the whole module has shutdown.
I've already contacted GivEnergy support, who have blamed WiFi interference, which it's definitely not as I have a SolarEdge string inverter right next to the AIO which functions throughout (both 2.4 GHz) and does not explain the lack of installer WiFi when standing right next to it.
Has anyone else had this issue?
I've had a few theories, but it seems to happen when AIO is in a high-state of charge. So summer is worse, normally going offline from late morning (and not reappearing until evening or the following morning), but last winter it also happened when charging up from grid in the early hours.
I luckily now have a network switch relatively close by, so have asked the installer to change to hardwired network as a mitigation. But a bit worried if the LAN port shares any connections with the WiFi module in the AIO (as an internal module rather than a stick) and the potential warranty situation given GivEnergy's current woes as without connectivity it's pretty unusable.
Also a bit frustrating for the whole upcoming paid-for software situation, where I don't really need any of the smarts and local access is probably enough (timed charging schedule is enough for me as things stand) but the only way to check in on what the AIO has been doing whilst offline is looking at the inverter data reporting in the web portal once it finally reappears.
