Is anyone else experiencing their battery being charged from the grid when it shouldn’t be and the new app doing nothing to stop it?
Battery being charged from Grid
YES. What the hells going on??
Ask them.
I have the same problem it’s ignoring the time slots help !!!
Mark506777 This is a user forum. We can offer suggestions, but you'd need to give us a lot more information about what you have, what you expect, and what's going wrong.
I signed up via Axle yesterday and now have premium subscription. I need this as i use wonderwatt for my scheduling - not the giverngy app. I am on octopus agile tariff for both import and export.
last night my batteries charged for three hours - looking at the remote control access on givenergy.cloud - it has logged "Server" as the source of the instructions, citing "smart tariff" as the reason.
Looking at my Axle account there is no activity logged (and anyway they want discharge).
It looks like Givenergy servers sent the instructions.

Did you choose Axle's full service, or events only ?
It looks like Givenergy servers sent the instructions.
Yes, that's plausible - they have (or had) a smart tariff feature on the dashboard to "help" with this sort of thing. (And I assume one of their justifications for charging a subscription is to further enhance this support.) If that card is still on the portal, can you deactivate it ?
I'm on events only with axle, the smart scheduler option on my givenergy app is off.
going through the options on the inverter settings on the app , timed charge had a slot active in it, which i had not set. have now deleted.
Alex23 I did exactly the same yesterday 😂
Faulky Hi Faulky. Actually I have exactly the opposite issue.
@Givenergy, I have been running 2x9.5kWh batteries and an hybrid Inverter 5.0 which has been running very smoothly (in the main) for around 3 years. Within moments of downloading the new app I noticed both batteries were almost fully discharged. I immediatley went to the user settings (free access level) and reset to charge as it used to and discharge as it used to. This evening, to my dismay, I see both batteries STILL discharging, like runaway trains, after the cut-off time.
I then upgraded to "premium" app, and tried resetting once more.
However none of these attmepts to reset have been successful, and even the new "battery PAUSE" function is not working.
Or is it the five minute update clause operating here? Sadly no, I have been trying for 45 minutes to cease discharge with no joy at all. Any thoughts anyone?
And no, as yet, I have not rated the app (in basic OR advanced form, as I appreciate it is still in its infancy. Thanks Team!
DavidE Check Enable DC Discharge is disabled. Then turn on AC Charge Enable and try to charge the batteries, you may need to set up a charge slot if it is out of your normal charging times.
@NormC. So at 2015hrs today I saw the system was still discharging. I checked the Enable DC Discharhe - it was enabled,a nd I have disabled it. The AC charge was already enabled, and charging had been progressing as expected. As there is a 5 minute refresh "hiatus" I will repsond shortly (say around 2100hrs) to see what the inverter and batteires are doing. Thank you, in anticipation. David 🙂
Well, that IS impressive, almost immediate respone, all looking good at the inverter end, thank you @NormC, good job!
I signed up to the GivEnergy premium service (not using Axle) and I am having this problem too. I have a three phase system with 11kW hybrid inverter and 20kW batteries. I have only one battery import schedule: overnight from 23.30 to 5.30. I have three daytime export schedules and between these times, when the battery should be supplying the house etc, the grid is slowly charging the battery (not at full power), sometimes in addition to solar input. Any ideas please?
check your portal remote control logs to see who is executing the instructions and whilst you are their check all the time slots for charge and discharge, look for anything suspect you don't recognise. If you have no charge or discharge schedules running.
Eco should be On,
AC Charge Off
Dc Discharge Off
Battery Should NOT be paused.
My battery slowly charges the house when I pause the battery to export to the grid
grayling On my system, the battery slowly charges from grid if it is below the reserve level. This usually manifests if it is below the minimum SoC on a discharge slot. Is it possible that your export slots have low min SoC, but the overall reserve is too high? Not sure if the overall reserve takes precedence over the discharge slot SoC if it is higher.

I have the same issue, AC starts charging at 12am to 3am every night. I keep switching AC charge off but every day it resets.
I’ll try and find the remote control logs to see what’s happening

BlueJuice If you haven't found them already the logs can be found here https://givenergy.cloud/dashboard Select 'My Inverter' from the left hand menu then click the cogwheel to the right of the screen. Click the 'Jump to Logs' button at the top left corner.
Hi NormC. I wonder if you know how I can "lock in" the disable command as it appears to reset daily. Any ideas welcomed, thanks in advance!
DavidE If you check the logs on the GivEnergy Cloud you should be able to see who is changing the setting. It cannot change itself.
Do you have Smart Scheduler turned on in the app? Or are you using or have you used the Smart Tariff on the GivEnergy Cloud. Have you signed up for Axle?
There is no way using the app or portal that you could lock the setting. You would need to use third party software.
I am getting my battery charge setting reset every night, to the most expensive time of day. I reset the charge time once, thinking it was a one off migration issue, but it happened again last night.
Checking the logs, the changes were made by 'SERVER' at midnight.

How can I stop this from happening.
Help.
This isn't what I signed up for with Premium
Does Ofgen need to know?
didgesteve Looks very like smart tariff support on the portal is doing the wrong thing. Check that it has the correct tariff settings (or just turn it off)
Is this one of the known issues ?
NormC Hi Norm. I am not signed up to Axle - is this the GE preferred option? I am with Octopus, and export (usually) during 1600-1900 using the timed export function, but this also seems to have stopped working as it used to. LAst night I mananged to manually set the batteires to discharge, BUT the discharge did not stop at 1900hrs. I have not set up the named charge/discharge Profiles yet - do you think this will help? I am off to hunt for the change log now, back shortly.
Faulky Are you signed up with Axle?
