I use the duckduckgo app with tracking prevention enabled.
So I was interested to see that since the update a few days ago... it has attempted to collect data almost 300 times.
That data includes things like
OS (+build number)
GPS co-ordinates
Device Model
Device Name
Device Orientation
Unique Identifiers
Last Name
First Name
Network Carrier
Screen Density
CPU Data
Device Boot Time
Device Memory
System Volume
Address
Timezone
Battery Level
App version
Android Advertising ID
Gender
Available Internal Storage
Device language
Network Connection Type
App Name
App Install Date
Screen Resolution
Charging Status
Email Address
Country
Headphone Status
City
Postcode
IP Address
Local IP Address
MAC Address
Installed Cookies
That's well over 30 pieces of private, individual & identifiable information they are gathering... and they've attempted to collect that nearly 300 times in the last few days.
If you're not aware of this... you should be, and if you're on android... try the DDG app and enable the tracking protection. You might be shocked at what they're collecting and how often.
