Why is it that these days if you update any software app , you need a bloody engineering degree to work out how it works. Latest app not intuitive at all . I am an engineer and it’s taken over an hour to load the new app and check it still has my settings. Of course I’ve subscribed cause all the graphs are now subscription only . The direct control panel ?? No explanation of any of the settings . Eg what is dc discharge . Oh I can guess but where is timed discharge ? Oh it’s under inverter control.
Finally who can help point out where my tariff import and export rates are so I can check ,setup ,or edit
New app frustration
Timed discharge and charge are under inverter control, I've used them and they seem exactly the same as before and it works.
As for the tariff part, no idea I've just looked and can't find that anywhere

Have you checked that the values you have entered do actually work and have they remained the same.
On my unpaid app the values I enter for timed charge & discharge change within a matter of minutes to times that make no logical sense, were using grid when we should be using battery it makes no sense @ I can do nothing about it because they are in control not me.

The direct control panel is the analogue of the 'remote control' page on the web portal. It gives direct access to the individual low-level registers. The Inverter Control page is a more sanitised and friendly view of most of them, and should be suffcient for most uses. (But eg the timed pause feature is a bit more flexible than the 'timed discharge' mechanism offered by the sanitised view, so you'd need to use the direct control panel if you want to do something more interesting.)
If you want to experiment, you can make a change in the inverter view, and then see what has actually changed in the direct control page.
The Inverter Settings panel just doesn't open, for me. Tap on it and nothing happens. 🙁

Avenir If by inverter panel you are talking about that in the cloud portal then you now need premium access to make changes or see any of the historical data that used to sit here.
But as I posted here the ge app (I use Apple) you can control the inverter when you are at home on the same network. (Local control)
Although you have lost the ability to use any of the cost functions as you need premium to be able to use those. Unless you decide to use any of the local theirs party control options that folks discuss on here.

Maxwell thanks for the reply. I am talking about the app (that being the subject of this thread) and the controls to set timed discharge etc under the Inverter Settings menu item.
I am aware of the need for a premium sub to access historical data etc. I don’t really feel inclined to pay for that when even the basics aren’t working yet.
Avenir is that Android or iOS? (Shouldn't matter, but...)
Does the Direct Control page open?
DD iOS, and yes the direct controls open and I can see the current status in the main view. I sent an email to the new app support address but obviously I’d be lucky to get tumbleweed as a response.
Avenir Everything that can be done via Inverter Control can be done through Direct Control, though of course it's not nearly as intuitive.
Are you aware that there's a free thirdparty "bbc basic" app that will run on iOS, as an alternative to the GE one. (Though it's possible that it exposes more of a low-level control similar to the Direct Control, rather than the Inverter Control - I've not really tried to use it in anger.)
DD Yes, Direct Control is a mess and liable to bork your system if you get it wrong. I have the BBC Basic app and Rubikcube's app on an Android emulator on a Mac. But I'm here on the GE app thread to whinge about the GE app not working 🙂
And wondering if anyone else had experienced the same issue.
My inverter is G1 hybrid running the 'fast response' beta firmware. I can well imagine there's a testing gap there.

Hmm - yes : if the inverter control page is tailored to your system's capabilities, that could fail.
Tried logging out then login in again. Now when tapping on 'Inverter settings' I get the 'Requires a premium account' splash screen. Surely that can't be right?
I wonder if anyone has the same problem?
I have a AC inverter and 9.5batt and a GIV EV charger.... i cant get the EVC to not drain the battery anymore....the option is checked within the EV charger page (to not drain the battery) but for some reason its ignored or the inverter cant see the load when the EV charger is on....
im on the free version of the app at the mo.

Unless you pay for a premium account or you are signed up to an energy supplier who pays the subscription for you, that is the situation now. Please see numerous other posts.
SteveCook Believe me, I have read all the numerous other posts on here and on the Discord. And it still wasn't clear to me that a panel of basic, easy-to-use inverter settings would be paywalled on the app. Perhaps if the splash screen had worked in the first place I would have been aware. Thanks for your patience and understanding, Steve ❤️

No problem. We have all been s*****d
When is the class action against givenergy going to start. This is extorton.

AFAIK there's only one app. But my understanding was that if you had the EV charger, you got premium for free since they can't (yet) do local control

Who would the class action be against. They have gone into administration.
There is nothing and no money to pursue.
The company failed, possibly because of poor management, who knows.
Avenir You could try using this on your Mac https://github.com/psylsph/home-energy-manager/releases/tag/v0.17.17 . There is also a version for Windows and Linux.
